U need a douglas/Centurion Arms for correct...or a kreiger or compas lake douglas, or a Ballistic Advantage barrel ....allll of which u need to have the proper OPS collar step down and special profile for it to be clone correct. Hollands use a 16" middy with the ops collar....Ballistic Advantage usually has these as well.

WOA also works correct?

I'm having some Hollands made as we speak.  I should have them in my hands by the end of the month.

Good deal.

Although now I'm wondering WHY they switched to white.

One of the main points Leupold put out on spotting counterfeit optics mentions the white etching on the front bell.

It doesn't make sense for them swap now.

Pic dump of the completed paint job, and "finished" Mk12. Pics don't do it justice...it's a buttery warm tone that melts back and forth from greenish tan to brownish tan as needed. Will get some pics in the field next time I go coyote hunting.

Receivers, bolt, and stock assy replaced with new and NOS Colt components. Base coat of paint in Skilcraft Obliterating Compound. Top coat in custom mix of Gillespie paint to mimic FS34201, but leaning on the tan side to work in a high desert environment. Now just waiting on the 'ole BATF...

Nice rig!

How did you, or what persuaded you guys,  to pick between a Mod 0 or Mod 1 (for those that have one or the other)?

I did the Mod 0 because of the Army roots, the handguard feels better (aluminum sucks in WY), and it looks better to my eye.

Clones will always be the coolest AR's, and mk12's will always be the coolest clones..... especially mod0's.

My thoughts exactly.

Outside of the members of this thread, if you were to overlook the collar and brake, a Mod 1 could almost be mistaken for any other railed AR. There is no mistaking the PRI tube with a Swan Sleeve (or the PRI version) for anything else.

I chose the Mod 1 because it is, in my eyes, a more complete fighting rifle.  It more easily fits into a general role for me than the Mod 0.  The Mod 0 fits into a light precision rifle role but, for me, struggles to fit into a general role.  I needed something that would fit into the general role, but would do very well at distance. This is based on the ergonomics of the rifle and how it fits with my body. My opinion only, of course.

Parts availability at the time.  At the time the parts for the Mod 1 were more easily found.  I've also always thought that the mod 0 only looks good painted and at the time I wasn't brave enough for that.

I fell in love with the Mk12 Mod 0's rather unique appearance from the moment I first saw one in 2004.  Just took me a while to pony up the cash.

I've built both now, and I think the Mod 1 is a handier rifle. But now that I've hunted two seasons with the Mod 0, most of which without a sling, I've come to think the Mod 0 is handy enough.

I remember when I was offered two transferables for $2000 each back in 99.......but I just bought my house and was broke. I should have used a home equity to buy both.

Mk1 because of parts availability and the FDNY stocked rifle pics.

Weight added up real quick, once I get my situation straightened out, the 3.5-10 Mk4 is going away to make room for the smaller/lighter TS30A2.

And, I'll just build a Holland to be my GP carbine.

Thanks

I like the DBAL, but haven't tried it's IR function (someday). The green visible is bright as nuts with a real tight beam. Daylight visible to 300+ yards. The IR stuff I've seen sold me on it as that's what I purchased it for. It's a stepping stone into night vision.

I really want an APTIAL-C, but I picked the DBAL up before those were even announced to come out. :(

I can't wait to get one. Due to my lack of patience im probably going to pick up a visible only laser then save up for the i2, wish I had the cash to drop on one right now tho, i've been on this laser kick lately which is weird because ive never really been into lasers

We say "National" here, but technically it means NATO Stock Number. Brits and Danes (Among others) could orderup a lot of our stuff via their supply chains provided they had NSNs. Vice versa for us.

I had the same problem, and finally found the Preval Sprayer System:

http://www.amazon.com/Preval-267-Spray-Gun/dp/B0000AY19M

I mention it here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/520524_Official_Mk12_Mod0__Mod1__ModH_Photo_and_Discussion_Thread__Part_II.html&page=693#i6698496

Basically I mixed spray paint colors in the jar until I came up with the color I liked. In my batch, I used a mix of paints from Gillespie (Rapco Parts. I used a base of Camo Sand, 686A Tan, Field Drab, and WWII Lusterless Khaki Olive Drab. Just keep mixing until it looks good, and you sample on small parts. Dont trust a wet sample. Let it dry.

If you want something more along on the gray-ish lines of Magpul FDE, Krylon "Khaki" is actually quite gray compared to anything else in flat camo spray lines. If you did predominantly that color, and darkened it, you could likely match Magpul FDE fairly close. I haven't bothered with a recipe because I plan on Cerakoting my other rigs that color.

It's a badass little sprayer system, and you can even use it to Cerakote or Duracoat.

Is the correct low-profile gas block the KAC one? I cringe at spending $108.00 for a LPGB.....
Badger Ordnance is NSN, about $60, may need emory clothed inside to fit to your barrel, only about ten min of your time.

NSN? sorry not tech savy. So badger is correct spec for mod 1 or...?

NSN = National Stock Number

Anyone know where to buy some MK 262 ammo that isnt crazy expensive?  Found it on midway but at $1.20 a shot it seems a bit steep and they only sell it in 50 round packs. I only need about 10 rounds so I can see if this barrel I got is a lemon or it it just likes really expensive 262's and nothing else.
