I am still on the hunt for a 5.56 #36 S-EX Swan Sleeve. For time being I am using a machined A.R.M.S. #36 EX AR10 OSR to work as a stand in until I am successful in locating a 5.56 #36 S-EX. I do have a correct surplus tear drop FA coming. I likely won't ever have deep enough pockets for the correct period Ergo G rear grip. https://i.imgur.com/w1O2dEA.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/wIy1IFR.jpeg I'll close by saying after shooting it today I am not the biggest fan of the A.R.M.S. #22H rings on the #36 Swan Sleeve when compared to a Mod 1 #22H on a receiver or a Mod 0 on a #38 rail with #22M rings. I have a set of #22 Medium NLS rings but they would not be able to clear the KAC large knob 200-600 sight. The #22M rings also would not be clone correct if I am correct that #22 High rings were used on the original rifle. Any comments or referrals on locating a #36 S-EX swan sleeve are greatly appreciated. They are the High rings. They're not good on a Swan Sleeve yeah, you want the scope to sit low on the rifle. SSgt Miller just took the issued scope and rings and threw it on the sleeve, he wanted the better eye relief the #36S-EX gives you and because he had to keep the iron sights on the gun he had to keep the tall rings on the scope for the eyepiece to clear it as you mentioned. I've also seen claims that his rifle had the Armalite handguard, they made uppers for the Mk 12 program and got a license from KAC to produce a copy of the FF RAS to help fill demand. It would make sense given the Armalite receiver but since they're identical there's no good way to tell which rail he had ![]() ![]() |

Do we know if the FDNY rifle was used by SSGT Miller since no one is identifiable in the photo with the FDNY stock stencil. |

Looks like I don’t have pic of my Mk12 clone on this device. PRI 18” Mk12 Mod0 upper on an H&R blem lower with an Ergo grip, A1 stock and a generous amount of Rustoleum. Correct ARMS no nub rings. No ambi safety, no teardrop FA, does have Geissele SSA-EX - the earlier gov’t version with standard trigger profile, not lightning bow. Looks and feels good to me and I’ll post pic later. Planning on an OCM6 when available. Haven’t decided on optic; a correct scope may be more than I want to spend. I have a late 1990s vintage SWFA Tasco SS 10x mildot that would work and has matching paint. The Bushnell LRTS 3-12x44 has the G3 reticle which I like and have on other optics. The ideal for me, I think, would be the Leupold TS30-A2 Mark 4 2.5-8x36mm TMR - 8x seems about right to me for 77gr pills. I live in the Southwest and have ready access to places to shoot where I can enjoy full advantage of the rifle’s capabilities. I did write Leupold asking for a special retro run, noting consumer interest, and got back: “I have passed this suggestion along. As a Mk12 enthusiast myself. I would enjoy this too!” Welcome thoughts on optics. |

If I were looking for a “clone-ish” lower for a mk12 mod 1 build and needed it now before Colorado gun laws change on 8/1, what would you buy? PSA? A $800 colt full rifle for a donor isn’t a realistic option. I have a Nodak XM16e1 lower - is that way wrong? |

A stripped lower does not have any of the features listed that require the 'additional training'. I mean it'll all be tossed in a couple years anyway after the lawsuit is filed so compliance is optional lol |

| It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, but wanted to ask for some help with a build. I’m modernizing my MK12 mod 0- keeping the correct parts, but swapping them out for a Craddock Precision 22 ARC barrel and bolt, and ATACR 4-16. If anybody has a line on a set of ARMS #22 34mm rings, please dm. |

Looking for some help on lower selection for a MK12 mod 1; IMC has a few different options for year/serial range. On their non hydramatic lowers, is there any particular lower style that would be more correct out of: 1969 1.6 million seri., 1971 4 million seri. , or 1975 5.1 million? I'd like to go with the hydramatic lower as there are plenty of reference photos, but IMC production can have pretty long lead times between batches, so I may have to spring for whatever becomes available, so was just curious if any of the above serial ranges would "more correct"? Admittedly, other than serial number, I don't know if there are physical differences, so any input is appreciated. |

Love this one! Wish I'd kept that old S-EX top rail as well as the Knight's SR-25 top rail with the integrated rear sight. Stoked to see everyone in here keeping this thread alive!

Looks like it might be a 20" bbl but it has the pri charging handle. There's no collar visible in the bbl shadow, maybe it has a 3 piece near the handguard. If you look close at the shadow it looks like he might have a 951 or 952 on the left side. Id guess thats pre 2005 based on the old style block Motorola, 3pt sling setup, and snap gear.
