I was offered to buy a preban colt ar15 chambered in 7.62x39. He is the second owner and has never fired it. He’s had it a long time and says it looked like the original owner never fired it as well but can’t be 100% sure of it. And if he did, he said it doesn’t show any wear so lets assume its in excellent condition. From the little research I’ve done i believe the model number to be R6830? Anyone have an approximate value? Are there different variations of this rifle I should take a look at that might affect value?
Any info will be much appreciated. |

I've been going through some old stuff in my gun room and came across 2 older mags I would like to get some info and possibly a value on.
First is a 20 rd Colt mag. The floorplate is stamped Cot AR-15 CAL 223 COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC. HARTFORD, CONN U.S.A. It has an odd color, Gray, smooth finish with a circled 1 on the lower left side. Second is a 30 rd Colt mag. The floorplate is stamped COLT AR-15 CAL. 5.56mm COLT 'S FIREARMS DIVISION COLT INDUSTRIES HARTFORD, CONN U.S.A. It has a dark green follower with 62665A in white letters and it looks like 62667 on the right side of the mag. Thanks Jerry |

Hey Jerry,
I’m not up on the latest prices but both of those are collectible mags. The circle 1 is from a very early SP1 I believe and the other is the first real generation 30 rounder after the “full curve” Check here for more info but I would say probably $50 for either of them for anybody who’s looking and knows what they are. |

Is a surplus M16A1 front sight base worth selling or are they pretty much 'a dime a dozen'?
I bought a surplus A1 kit a few years ago but didn't need the FSB (the barrel that I bought, already had one installed). So it's just sitting around. Along with a Type E stock that I was given (looks like it had been sprayed flat black, I may try to strip it and see what's underneath). |

No forging marks under the rear sight, it does have a boxed C in front of the ejection port. Only marking I can find on the barrel is a faint C on the bottom of the barrel between the front sight/block and flash hinder. A1 birdcage flash hinder. Greetings everyone. i recently came into owning an older Preban Olympic Arms CAR-AR the receiver is stamped with the SGW in the cirlce and octagon. from looking up the serial number it appears to be from 1984-1985. can anyone help point me in a direction to find a value on this firearm? i know more about some of the current models and brands on the market, but i have very little knowlege on an older one like this. Any help would be appreciated!

What's a Colt SP1 worth these days? Serial number SP1157XXX, which I believe puts it in the year of 1981 manufacture.

A friend handed me a couple of what look like 602 upper yesterday. I do not have pictures (they are at my house, and I am at work). But they are in sealed (well, one was unsealed) plastic bags that I believe were marked with a 1982 date. So they look refinished. But they are stripped. I will try to get pictures tonight.
But assuming they are arsenal refinished stripped 602 uppers, any ideas on value? I want to build one out for myself--just want to know what I should offer him. |

That is not a 602, it is a late 604. In that condition it is worth about $100. If it was a 602, even in that condition, it would be worth about $500.

Price check for a Colt XM16E1 bolt carrier with phosphate MP marked bolt? It's in good condition and the finish is fairly good. Please check the link to see pictures of the bolt and carrier. Thanks!

Notice the gas key staking and the firing pin retainer pin hole. Aren't those indicative of the XM16E1 carriers? I just added pictures to the original link comparing it to a C marked M16A1 carrier.
