To give them credit, I am glad it appears they are doing a better job of reacting to the market. They should drop the Whisper designation so as not to charge a premium for use of that name. Its a shame they haven't updated to 6.8SPC II and would be a shame if they forced everyone to ream out Whisper chambers to 300BLK. |

It will suck if we have to ream the chamber. |

I got permission to quote some emails from LMT:
"As long as you keep my name out of it, I don’t mind. However please note that the information I supplied is subjective and subject to change based on outside factors… Also one ARFCOM thing you can clear up for me as I have already seen some LMT bashing about the .300AAC as I do watch the forums for outside input to our company. We will be chambering in the 300AAC Blackout and not the 300 Whisper.... ... I expect the .300AAC Blackout to be out about mid-2011 unless R&D goes faster than anticipated, but securing the ammo needed for final approval will be a bit hard to do as we generally will go through about 100K rounds before we give the full release to a barrel type for production. For the MWS I think they are doing them in sets of 2. Here is the order I think we will go in but its subject to change… .243 Winchester & .260 Remington will be first .338 Federal & 7mm-08 Remington will be second 6.5 Creedmore will be last… I say that because I know what ammo we currently have in house for testing… Best regards, _________ " |

Heck, do the 6.8! I have the 16" and reamed the chambe rto spec II, works like a champ. I will do the 300 when they release it as it's another option for me. On the 6.8, you don't need to ream it if you don't plan on shooting the SSA Combat Loads.
Looks like LMT is doing a great job with market demands in regards to alot of developments in the shooting community––-I WISH THEY WOULD DO FROM THE FACTORY THE SPEC II CHAMBERS AT LEAST |

That was a question I put back to the LMT rep in my last email and have not heard back yet. |
|
Not sure why he can't post his own comments but here is one more from an LMT rep fyi:
"The 6.8 SPC has not been updated to the SPC II chamber as our DoD partners on the 6.8 project don’t want really anything to do with SPC II. Mainly because the ammo is only available from once source. Also they do not like the increased pressures of the SPC II round for whatever reason. I know the 6.8’s we have in use overseas have been met with rave reviews and they are doing their job properly to say the least. Our 12.5” DI 6.8 upper is very popular over there because its compact and still “very accurate” to 250 meters (end user quote there). I have never shot the 6.8 passed 100 meters so I don’t have any real comment to add to that. On a short note if our military users change their mind and want to go to 6.8 SPC II then we will go it, but for now they are liking what we already make Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns." The SPC II is ballistics are superior and thought that the updated chamber reduced pressures so not sure what the issue is. Does the velocity of standard SPC ammo drop in an SPC II chamber? |

This sling is looking pretty ideal (to me) for an MRP/ MWS in combination with Noveske QD sling mount to move seamlessly from 1 to 2 point as needed.

Haven't posted new photos in a while. The rains out here in the south west make for some interesting lighting to take photos in. Added a few minor enhancements. Finally got around to getting raped at Adams Arms for a couple springs for 15$ shipping. Did ADCO do the recontouring of your MRP barrel? Been looking and was just wondering how much weight you shaved off? Do you have any pictures of just the barrel? Thanks |

Not sure if I need to post a pic here or not Is there a way to use standard USGI Front Sights with these rifles? Or would I need to always have my Front Sights connected to the rails? If so, could I make an A4 clone with the rifle length upper? |
| im sure it is possible, havent seen it done though, to mount a standard front sight to the barrel on an mrp, it wouldnt have any function as a gas block though and would be like a kino configured rifle. but it is much easier just to stick with rail mounted irons |

I am pretty sure there is enough barrel proturding from the rail to accomadate the fixed FSB. Cheers |

Wow, Now this isn't an MRP question, but does this mean that every AR I see with a FF tube and an FSP like that is a Kino AR?
Wait a sec, why couldn't I just use a mid length barrel that I'd buy separately from the whole MRP system with the regular FSP and just have it worked on to work with the MRP system? |

You could buy a midlength gas system barrel and have it worked on, however it would not be in true Kino configuration. A true Kino includes a carbine length gas system with a low-profile gas block and an FSB for ward of the gas block which has no purpose other than to provide a fixed sight base. The idea is basically a shorter version of a dissapator wheras the overall sight picture is as long as possible. Note that a middy gas system is not considered reliable on any barrel under 14.5" in length. IMHO, if you want Kino configuration on an MRP system, you'd be better off utilizing the factory supplied front, fixed BUIS. Cheers |

I just wasn't sure if I could have something like that with the MRP system. I just want a midlength gas system with the USGI Sight to be used with a CQB MRP. |
| For some reason I thought you could not use a .22LR conversion kit with the MRP. I am not sure why I was thinking you can't. Well, you can. I used a Brownell's tonight at a training class and it worked flawlessly. Just an FYI for anyone else like me that thought you couldn't. |

You get a dedicated 22lr barrel which really enhances the reliability of the entire weapon. Plus, the twist rate is matched for 22lr. You don't end up with fowling in your gas system either. Mine has ate close to 10,000 rounds now and it keeps chugging along when fed Federal bulk pack. |
It was in-service training for work and they supplied the kit and ammo. They do that for the indoor range. When we use the outdoor range, we use 223/5.56. I could have saved myself thousands if I had known it before buying a bunch of reloading equipment....
