Oh, they make these too, and you can do the 660 or a 6P clone light.

@John44

We’ll know this week, my shipment is in Shitcago now.
I actually have 3 on the way.

Here’s a picture one buyer posted on their website with a product review.
It showed the differences between their product a real Surefire side by side.
One thing to be aware of, apparently they don’t have o-rings. Not a big deal for, I can match them up at work.
We’ll see if they started adding them.

Here’s a shot of the beam at 4 feet in a dim room with blue-gray walls.

The pressure pad.  It’s more of the modern style.

No rattles with batteries installed.
Lens appears to be glass.
Overall fit and finish is pretty nice.
No o-rings, so I’m gonna source those at work.

Well, one bad pressure pad.
Tested it with the other two units. The other pads work on the third, so it’s not the bulb.
Customer service Guinea pig, we’ll see what happens.

ETA:

Also, these are NOT shock bezels.

There sticker is pretty cool too

ETA 2:

About an hour after contacting them, they responded and are sending a new pressure switch.

So what is the barrel length of the BD gun?  How long is the flash hider?

This thread is going to cost me money...  I need to find an A2 upper now.

From what I’ve read, 10.5” on the barrel.

Barrel length isn’t something that can really be replicated because it was made from a cut down A2 rifle. The hand guards were also cut down.

The FSB wasn’t exactly at the carbine position so it’s hard to judge what the actual length was. Safe to say that’s it’s somewhere in the 10”-11” range.
This is the actual gun in the film.

I still don't understand why an extra long flash hider is used when they could just use a short flash hider, longer barrel, and a longer gas tube.  Perhaps it has something to do with the logistics of what parts the military had/has available, or the ability to mount a bayonet.

I would prefer 4" more barrel for the additional velocity, and mount the front sight out further for a longer sight radius.  Use of a bayonet is pretty rare.

Surefire M14 mount, meet Hamm’s.  Pretty cool, easy going, and always there to help you out in a time of need or when you’re just working on a little project.

Yeah. Just letting peeps that don't read the description know.

I would have snagged one if they did, but I'm sitting on a Colt A2 upper with M4 cuts, so I guess I'll just use that.

I’ll probably sell the M14 mount or do a 723 clone.
That’s to decide later.

Channel lock plyers work great for this pin, and the bolt release pin.  Parallel plyers are even better, but most people have channel locks.

Same, I didn’t even use a roll pin in my SBR because I was afraid of breaking it, I have the tool now but the BCM grip holds their trigger guard so solidly that I never bother to take it off and put one in.

Looks a little odd I guess but it’s been like that for five years.

Well here's my start. Colt 6520. Colt M4CQB barrel. Surefire 600. I need to source a Surefire A2 FH  so I can mount a Blast Warden or my Mini. Once I source that, off to ADCO to swap barrels.
Also need to modify the mount for the light.

Here’s a comparison of the Surefire M16 and M14 mounts.
I circled the relief cuts on the M16 Weaver section and the corresponding areas on the M14 mount.

This will give people an idea of the relief cuts needed on an aftermarket mount.

Yes.

Cold link for others to reference:  https://www.recoilweb.com/the-guns-of-black-hawk-down-142415.html

Based on the article, the Gordon carbine is the BDC.
The fake OPS Inc suppressor was replaced with a faux 607ish moderator and 660 light added, and new paint scheme(?), that's my take.

Would the 3.5” non-slotted moderator from Retro Rifles, dubbed the Gen 1 on their site, be correct for a BHD build?

https://retrorifles.com/moderator-flash-hiders-car-15-xm177e1-xm177e2-colt-commando-1963-1974/

I have a 733 Heat build upper I’ve added the MGW weaver carry handle mount, 30mm Leupold weaver ring, and an Aimpoint PRO to in order to go in more of a BHD direction. I’m just trying to decide if I take off the A2 FH and add a moderator, or leave it with the plain Jane A2 FH.

I believe the movie prop rifle had a moderator that had the slots cut off and was around 4” in length.
I went with a 601 style at 3.5”.
Quasi BD clone, a bit of movie and reality mixed together.
