Barrier blind reloading?

TBBC is the king, in my humble opinion. I have it loaded behind cfe223, I think it's 27gr but don't quote me on that and know it's beyond book max charge, so normal disclaimers apply. It matches factory m855 velocity from my 10"

Monolithics tend to do well through barriers. TSX is a great bullet in all .224 weights. The optimized 50gr bullet is a hammer when it comes to defeating barriers but I don't believe the bullet is sold for reloading. The 62gr and 70gr pills are available as components and are GTG, albeit expensive.

The Barnes .224 TSX is available for reloaders in: 45, 50, 53, 55, 62, & 70 grain weights

The Barnes .224 TTSX is available for reloaders in: 50, 55, & 62 grain weights

Now whether you can actually find anything in stock right now is a whole nother issue, but Barnes does make the stuff. At least they did, with the sale of the company to Sierra, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Pretty tough to beat imo. Standard deviation on a 10 shot string was 13, and 1.5 moa accuracy.

Any bullet that is commercially available and used by a manufacturer as a barrier blind bullet can be loaded into a similar load. The one thing you will have trouble duplicating with a factory duty/defense barrier blind load is the low/no flash powder the factories typically use. Besides that, you can generally replicate the performance of factory loads so long as you’re getting the same MV.
Bullets to use are the Federal Trophy Bonded Bear Claw (TBBC), Fusion JSP, Terminal Ascent, Edge TLR
Barnes TSX and TTSX
Hornady GMX
Nosler AccuBond and AccuBond Long Range
Etc.

Basically anything that is bonded or copper monolith (all copper)

I run nearly the exact same load with the 70 grain tsx, I’m just at 25.0 grains of Tac. Very accurate load.

Ive heard good things about it, and it should be a good match for mid and heavier bullets in 5.56.

Good powder; I use that or TAC for all my 223/556 loads. Cfe burns a bit slow so you need to give it a healthy charge in a short barrel to get velocity up to full-power levels, but it's totally doable if you ladder up safely. It's a great powder for the heavy stuff, though you can 100% use it behind 55gr.

The TBBC handloads I use for HD have cfe behind them. No qualms with the powder.
