If you are willing to pay the price... Selway Armory and Primary Arms has BHA 50gr TSX 5.56.
"Please Note: While the 5.56x45mm NATO will fit in a .223 Remington chamber, the 5.56 is a military round that runs at higher pressures than its .223 counterpart and is not recommended to be fired in a .223 Remington chamber. " Selway Armory Primary Arms |

Finally had a chance to visit an Academy Sports in TX this week. They had lots of Monarch 5.56, 5.45, and 7.62x39, along with Winchester 5.56, but all a bit more than I’m willing to pay - 50 cpr for Monarch AK ammo, around 60 cpr for Monarch AR, and 70+ cpr for brass 5.56. However, I happened to get there right as they were unloading a big cart, and they had tons of 9mm. Monarch was $13.99 for 50, Blazer Aluminum $15.99, and Federal $16.99. I found an unopened box of 100-round packs of American Eagle 115gr FMJ, asked a clerk to open it, and was able to buy four boxes (their limit) for $36.99 each. That’s almost approaching the high end of “normal” for big chain store prices, and I was ok with that for now, after a year of no 9mm anywhere on shelves, or 60+ cpr if I could find it.

With the way the prices are dropping, its like the stock price of companies after I buy.

I can't think of anything to say. Nada, zip, nothing.

If anyone is looking for a Bonded 55gr... Bone Frog Gun Club has the 55gr TBBC on sale.
200rd selection, $250 bucks. The TBBC bullet is a great barrier bullet. NOTE: It is a far better barrier bullet than it is a fragmenting bullet. https://www.bonefroggunclub.com/products/223-rem-55gr-federal-tactical-bonded-le223t1?variant=12168542748741 |

Depending on velocity on impact, it can shed a lot of fragments so not sure it would be my first choice for hunting. Also be aware that it is a short round so make sure it works with your mags and feed ramps. I will get a FF occasionally during rapid fire. The tip of the round gets shoved up past the chamber. |

New question:
Where can I find Speer gold dot's?? I'd really like to get the .223 in 75gr I have been looking for MONTHS - Maybe even a year. I know the ammo crisis we are in, but it has been getting a lot better within the last few months... But Speer ammo is impossible... I seach Ammoseek almost daily, and call around to local stores almost weekly. No luck. Any other or better places to try? I am sure a lot of this ammo is going to police, etc. and is obviously a high demand and quality ammo - but wish I could find some in stock! |

LGS in town had it in stock at $20 a box. I picked up 5 boxes just because it was the cheapest I’d seen it in a while. Took them about a week to sell all of it. |

For anyone looking for 5.56, this MEN M193 seems to be the best deal going. Cheaper than the ammo scrapers have. It would probably all be sold out already, but they posted it in the pistol magazine section. Comes out to about 46 cents a round delivered, depending on your local taxes. You can save on shipping by buying multiple cases.

Speer Gold Dot 75g at $1/rd shipped. Gotta buy 500 though.
https://www.bonefroggunclub.com/collections/ammunition/products/223-rem-75gr-speer-gold-dot-duty-rifle-24475?variant=3423113707546 Price is not *amazing*, but not bad if you're looking for more semi-premium to add to the stack. I know, too slow for some, and designed for shorter barrels, but my 16" rifles like them just fine for general hog and HD purposes. Didn't need another half case, but 1) hadn't bought ammo in a while, and 2) they are right at/under my my self-imposed $1/rd limit. So one must ask.. what was an aspiring arfcom ho-bag to do? |
