Nice rig AR-3.  If you don't mind me asking, how do you activate the light since you took off the VFG?

Went to the range today and took a couple pic's of my POF 16" Recon upper mounted on a Sabre Defence lower with the Timney 4lb trigger. Decided to see how well I could do with it shooting prone on a Harris bipod. After finding my zero I could hit the man size steel plate in the torso 9 out of 10 times with 75 gr TAP T2 at 600 yards. This upper just continues to impress me! I sure hope POF will start selling the P-308 uppers soon. I can't wait to get one!!!!

I see a khukri!

AR + khukri = hardcore XXX weapon pr0n

We did some training with the Ghurkas in 1987. I gave one of them a Marine Corps cover and he gave me that khukri. Very good piece of gear. It had a leather strap to attach it to the belt; but it looked kind of flimsy to me, so I sacrificed an old pair of cammie trousers and, using my trusty dusty USMC-issued sewing kit and 100 mph tape, made a cloth cover for the sheath. I put two ALICE clips on it and hung it from my web belt. That woodland cover was on there all these years later, pretty nasty and beat up.

I bought some Multicam cloth last year--just to see what it looked like--and about a month ago I put two and two together, and made a new cover for the sheath out of the multicam cloth. Having access to my wife's sewing machine made it a lot easier this time, as well as the fact that the finished product looks better. The one I sewed 20 years ago looked like it was done by a drunk's left foot.

The khukri now with the old cover. I used the old one as a pattern for the new one.

i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff303/Gyrene8490/khukri004.jpg

The sewing on the back. I used my wife's machine (after receiving the proper instruction ) to do all the edges and sew the ALICE/MALICE holder on, then I sewed the cover onto the sheath by hand.

i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff303/Gyrene8490/khukri011.jpg

New life for an old war horse. I purposely made the ALICE holders wide so I can change it over to MALICE clips whenever I get the chance. The knife is used and worn and it's not pretty anymore (just like me); but it's still sharp and good to go.

i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff303/Gyrene8490/khukri007.jpg

And, since this is the AR thread--not the khukri thread--here's another pic of the AR.

i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff303/Gyrene8490/spikeslower005s.jpg

It looks great!

I have an ever-growing collection of khukris. The khukri is my blade of choice when it comes to big blades. I got my first one in 1987 too.

Here's my favorite one:

Chitlangi Khukri by Himalayan Imports. It's 21.5" with about 14.5" of blade.

I'm planning on doing something similar to what you did, but with OD green material and probably with a pouch built into it for a Leatherman tool.

Why is your sling attached on opposite sides? Are you a lefty, or is there some advantage to it?

I usually answer questions on pic threads with IMs but your IM is turned off.

It works for both lefty and non lefty.

Not saying it's right or wrong, people do things different ways. I was taught to keep the 1911 chamber empty in the USMC, that doesn't mean I can't keep it locked and cocked now, does it.

Parris Island to answer your question, are Marines made anywhere else?

Had to get a dig at you Hollywood types.

I think the hammer down on an empty chamber is a lot safer than a chambered round on safe!

Atleast when the hammer is down and nothing is in the chamber you have to charge the whole handle back to in order to go.  Heck, I don't even keep ammo in my mags!  My guns are stored without mags in them as well.

I do keep one mag with a few rounds in it just in case of an emergency though.  Never know when a zombie might want to break in.

No doubt. If you turned a weapon in to the armory with the hammer cocked--on 'safe' or not--you'd get reamed a new asshole. Of course, this was the grunts--a long way from boot camp.

Just got the Faclon 4-14 FFP MPR with Mrad knobs.  It's a fairly inexpensive scope.  Somewhat hit and miss on quality. (First one I got the windage knob was busted.)  Optic clarity is quite good though.  Once I get out to punch some paper, I'll run the box test on it and really evaluate it.

forgive me, i don't know where to post this.

http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/4145/boltcarriergw8.gif

is this image accurate? i found it on another website where they were having a discussion about the legality of m16 parts in an ar15. someone said it was illegal to have ANY m16 part in an ar15. others said you could have some but not all the parts needed to convert it to fully automatic. where can i find all the laws concerning ar15s?
i bought a complete CMMG ar15 carbine at a gunshow and the carrier that is listed in the pic as an m16 is the same one that my carbine came with. i need to know if i'm breaking any laws here. thx.
