  upper by adco with RRA lower and Leupold mkIV glass... the color difference b/w kg coat and leupolds FDE is much closer than the picture makes it look. I just wish i could get rear scope cover to fit, with proper eye relief for me it is right on top of the arms rear sight.  -Mike |

Can someone tell me what rail is sitting on top of the receiver and PRI hand guards? I'm thinking its made by ARMS but I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Also, do they make one for a Mid-length hand guard? Links would be greatly appreciated. Also, has anyone used a Larue SPR scope mount on top of that rail? Would it put the scope to high? |

I tried the Mediums, if your scope is set back they may work, but if you look at the first picture in the thread I am using the high mounts. The medium will work if you use the ARMS L (low profile) BUIS but then you wouldnt be building a clone........ photo from page one

M490, Yep, thats the rifle i fell in love with too, so much so that mine is the exact same rifle, the only problem is i don't have a scope, and i can't seem to find the Leopold #57055, which seems to be the one that goes with the rifle (someone correct me if i'm wrong) to make a clone, it seems that Leopold discontinued that model for some reason, i am even trying the EE section to no avail.. Hey, did i mention how great your rifle looks... |
Thanks!! If i understand from all MK12 articles i have read, early mod 0's were also issued with non illuminated recticle Leupold MK4 3,5-10 x 40 scope? That is the one i'm using in my mod 0 clone (i got a cheap deal). Also the barrel was pain in the #%# to get in Finland, so i went to Lothar & Walther barrel with SPR specs. Hope you find a correct scope to your baby! |

What scope do you want? I have a new MK4 LR M3IL, that I bought for display with my Mod 0 builds. Its the correct scope, but has a cross hair instead of mil dot. since this a pic thread, here's my MOD 1 w/issue mirrage cover.

Finally got a chance to take the Mk12 Mod0 out again. Set up around 9:00 A.M. about 50* with a slight northerly breeze(left to right). I was primarily out to verify my 300 and 600 yard dope with Mk262. After a couple hours, the wind started to pick up so I didn't stay as long as I would have liked, but I was able to get more dopes for the 10 MPH wind. I haven't been to this location in a while, and I forgot how the bullet going across a valley sounds, it's pretty cool.     600 yards across the valley.  Hard to see, but cross hair is covering 12"x10" steel target.  Better picture of the target.  First three rounds on target at 600 yards. First shot was to the left. I was impressed that I got the windage right, if I could do that every time I would be happy. That was a long walk to take a picture.

I'm glad that my mod 0 is almost done, after seeing these pictures i can't wait to try mine out, with pictures like that, its hard to keep the BRD under control, Tom |

It is a rifle length gas system, you can use a Larue 13.2 rail to cover the gas block. Or get a mid length SPR barrel and still use the 12" rail. |
I did on the brake, but not on the collar. If the collar were to come loose (not very likely), there's a shoulder on the barrel for the collar to be tightened against when the suppressor is installed..... |
I own both the 3-9x36 with M3 turrets and a 3.5-10x40 with M1 turrets, they both have the TMR reticle which I much prefer over Mil-dots because of the finer crosshairs which make it easier for me to range things. I like the 3.5-10 on my SPR just because I can see a little farther with it and I like the M1 turrets. HTH

Meet me at Washtenaw and I'll bring a can for you to try out I know people are using your modded vortexes with good results. You'll get suppressors in MI, I have already transfered several who are just waiting for the go ahead from the AG for the ATF to approve the forms. |

You should really ask yourself which rifle would better suit your needs/wants. If you need/want a light weight, medium range, general purpose rifle go with the Recce. If you need/want a longer range support rifle, I say go with the Mod1. Both are great weapons that have a specific role so they are different in some aspects. I consider the Recce to be a mid-range precision weapon with a simple but rugged optic like an ACOG, more of a sniper supprt rifle. There are so many different interpretations of what a Recce is, that it would help to know what you specs would be before recommending one. While there are specs for the Mk12 Mod1, most people build them to fit within their budget, so again it is hard to recommend this rifle without knowing how you would build it. |
