SURVIVAL COMMUNITY POSTING RULES
Welcome to the AR15.com Survival
Community, a place to share information about the technical side of
family preparedness. We're here to help each other make plans––whether
short-term or for the long haul––and to share best practices for
readiness.
First and foremost - this is a TECHNICAL FORUM, not General Discussion. The management
has set forth a higher standard to be upheld here than in GD. None of what you are reading below is new, but with the changing dynamics of the forum and influx of new members we though it would help to have something in print in order to avoid any confusion.
We all have to pitch in to keep the Survival Community an effective tool for sharing information on preparedness. We ask that you:
- Discuss posts civilly. This is a technical forum, not General Discussion, and we value the constructive exchange of information. Posting insults and nasty comments (even if you think they're deserved) is not going to end well. So don't. If someone has made a foolish post or has given erroneous advice,
don't call them names or use profanity. Explain politely what you believe
the problem is or contact a moderator or staff member. Similarly, if you
think someone is trolling please use the Report button and let us
investigate.
- Search before you post. If you are new to the Survival Community, please, at the very least,
take the time to scan the thread titles in the first few pages of each
forum. Pick a few threads that interest you and read through them. If
you do this, you will have a much better idea of what has been discussed
in the recent past. Even better, enter a term in the "Search" box and
click through to the results. Chances are that your interest has been
discussed before.
- Post about the practical aspects of preparedness. This is
where we talk about the how-to's of being ready. If you want to talk
about politics or religion, there are other places on the site to do
that. The mods have discretion here, but will most likely lock or move
threads that aren't primarily about food and garden, ham radio, gear,
survival guides and fiction, or survival.
- Stay on-topic. Share your survival- or prep-related experience, NOT internet memes or funny Photoshops or other unrelated images. Help keep the community focused on the important stuff.
- Build the community. Your know-how matters. Make it as good as you can, and talk about what you know. Be patient with new members.
BOTTOM LINE: These are technical forums and the goal is to make
them as useful as possible. If you have a problem with a post or a
poster, use the Report button and let the mods know. Make constructive
contributions, and help keep the signal-to-noise ratio high.
Failure to follow these rules may result in edited, moved or locked threads. Repeated and/or serious violations may result in temporary or permanent loss of posting privileges.
