The top 62 all earned 4 leg points toward the Distinguished Rifleman badge. I almost didn't go since I'd have to fly (Miami). But when I found out that they provide the rifle I went. Forget the cost and time needed. How often do you get the chance right? The match is part of the Rifle Small Arms Firing School and is purposely designed to introduce new shooters to the sport: 9.1.2 CMP Special EIC Matches CMP Special EIC Matches are EIC matches where only “as-issued” U. S. military rifles or pistols are fired and where only competitors who have previously earned no EIC points can earn “introductory” four-point EIC credits. Competitors may earn only one four-point EIC credit in pistol and one four-point EIC credit in rifle. Special EIC Matches may only be conducted during the National Matches in conjunction with Small Arms Firing Schools or Regional CMP Games. The objective of Special EIC Matches is to introduce new competitors to service rifle and pistol competitions and to encourage them to actively pursue earning a Distinguished Rifl eman or Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge. I was shooting an M16 using Hornady 75 Match not a blackpowder rifle. The handguards on ours, #52, did rotate a bit though

I finished 94th, so close... For only shooting 2 matches before ever going to Camp Perry this year and those were with my M1, I'm proud of what I did do.
Here is a pic of the rifle I shot with. It had so much slop back and forth, up and down I'm surprised I shot as good as I did.

I am the one in the red hat. I didn't fire in it. I was an instructor and coach. The first day we had a group and one guy brought his daughter in. She was 11-12 or so. When we got to sitting, she instantly went to a picture perfect position. She will have lots of fun shooting high power when she is beating all the boys her age! Lots of great people came out, and I hope I taught everyone a little more than they had when they showed up. Anoter guy on our team had a set of sisters and a broter that were there with the mom and dad.om and dad pulled targets for them, and they shot. They all live away from each other so they meet ip there every year to shoot the safs as a family get together since the father has been teaching them and taking them since they were kids. That's awsome.
Also it was the highest attendance rate in history. Good to see that. |

Also it was the highest attendance rate in history. Good to see that. The guns were worn and actually pretty fair representations of rack grade rifles of the average Army armory. They can still shoot good. The issue is the barrels don't get cleaned and decoppered and te build up is pretty bad and it does tearthe jackets some on the match bullets. Some of which never made it to the target. Overall I believe that good plain M855 ball would have performed much better for everyone, with only a few of the newer rifles really losing any advantage of the match ammo. But again it was good to see so many people involved. I am still up here at Perry shooting NRA long range with service rifles . (M14's) and having a blast and learning alot and meeting alot of great people. |

We had a lot of good instruction and wished that you would have been at our firing point for the match. We'll be back next year, my 11 year old nephew is already asking me if I'm going to bring him down to Camp Perry next year. We hope to see you there again. |

I would guess that it is dye remaining from a liquid dye penetrant test of the receiver. In other words, they were testing the receiver for cracks. HTH, 7zero1. |

She really took to it well. How did she do on the firing day? It's the future of the sport and I want to make sure our children and thier children all get a chance to make fun of how their dads shot those ancient AR's when we did it. 
I stayed all the way through long range, left Thursday and spent Friday packing to go to savanna GA for pre mob training. I am there right now. Very exciting army training...  . I won't see you there next year as I am deploying the day after thanksgiving. But I will be there the next year. Keep taking the kids shooting, and I'll see you guys on the line when I get back!

Keep taking the kids shooting, and I'll see you guys on the line when I get back!She shot a 142-0x which I didn't think was too bad. the barrel of our our rifle was fouled so badly that it was tearing the jackets off the bullets. We had a lot of fun though and both her and my nephew ran out of gas in the pits. That was a long day, we started at 0600 and didn't get out of the pits until around 1630. Those poor kids were exhausted! Stay safe and we'll see in 2 years. |
