Edited 7-16: Official start time will be between 9:30am and 10am this Saturday morning (7-21)@ Knob Creek. EVERYONE must check-in at the office/gun shop BEFORE setting up on the range. You will need to pay the $10 range fee at that time. (DIRECTIONS TO KNOB CREEK ARE POSTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST) Alrighty folks, we have another KENTUCKY HOMETOWN ARFCOM SHOOT in the works for Saturday JULY 21st at the infamous Knob Creek Range in West Point, KY ( right outside and south of Louisville ).  Just as the last shoot we had, we will have half the range roped off for us to use, and we'll have another vehicle to destroy with Tannerite  So get this on your calendar and work out your work schedule so you can attend.I'll edit this post with more details as they come available. ETA: Fees: Only the standard range fee applies, which I think is currently $10.00. ______________________________________________________________________________ **UPDATE 6/28** Hey guys, I talked to Kenny (owner of Knob Creek) this morning about a few things. First of all, tracers will more than likely not be allowed due to the dry conditions around here. Of course, this could change if all of sudden around our date we get a lot of moisture, but that is doubtful, and we already are in a drought. So, for the sake of possible fire, count on no tracers at this time. If this changes once we get to the date, I'll update everyone. Food: Unfortunately we will not be able to score the local on site hot dog cart vendor. He is actually the Range Master on Saturdays, so he will be too busy to also cook up grub for us. He typically runs the cart on Sundays since he always runs the range on Saturdays. So, we need to come up with a plan for food here. It's so difficult because there is no way of knowing how many will show up, and how many of those will need to eat. I'll be more than happy to provide the hot dogs and buns for the group. Maybe some others could bring some chips or whatever?? And if anyone wants something other than hot dogs, speak up, and maybe something could get worked out with others bringing some hamburgers and juicy filet mignons?? (yeah, right  )For those that will be camping, would any of you have a grill or two that you would allow us to use during the day for cooking on? I figure there will be grills there, if we can use one of those it just simplifies things, but if not that's no problem, we'll come up with one before hand. The Tannerite has arrived, we have 5 cases total of powdered destruction at our disposal. Looks like I need to bring big mixing bowls, as that's A LOT to mix up using just the little mixing bottles provided, lol. Big thanks to Ky_Bob for taking over all the camping details for everyone. I've never camped out there before, so it's good to have a man of Bob's vast wisdom and character looking out for all the outdoor freeloaders. ________________________________________________________________________________ Posted on page 6 by Ky_Bob concerning CAMPING: Camping info: It is $10.00 per person to camp on Friday and Saturday night. That is $10.00 for BOTH nights. Kenny is giving us a break on this and we definitely appreciate it. The fire has to be in the fire pit by the guard building in the campground so I guess we will be setting up our tents and campers there. This is primitive camping. No facilities at all. Bring what you need. I will not be camping Friday night but will on Saturday. If you are going to camp, please IM me ( Ky_Bob )with how many in your party so if it gets much bigger than the 12 or so I predict I can let Kenny know. It would also be nice to know which nights you were staying. ________________________________________________________________________________ I am very pleased to announce that we will have some special guests joining us. Kentucky’s very own AR manufacturer, J&T Distributing / Double Star will be joining in on the fun, and will have some of their goods to show off. Unlike at the gun shows where you just see them on the table, you’ll be seeing some of their own personal projects and builds in action. Also, with the very kind blessing from Kenny of Knob Creek, J&T will be bringing with them small parts for anyone in need to purchase, ie: internal parts, bolts, carriers, springs, magazines. They are also willing to bring anything else they sell if someone requests such. You can call them directly at 1-888-736-7725 and pay by credit card and they will bring your item right to you at the Arfcom shoot. Or, if you choose to pay at the shoot, be sure to bring cash as they won’t be set up for credit cards there. Be sure to stop by their website to see all that they carry if you are unfamiliar:  __________________________________________________________________________  Now, for those that have not been to Knob Creek Range before, Here is a MAP OF KNOB CREEK'S LOCATION And here is a link that you can input your address in and then get driving directions automatically to Knob Creek Range (Knob Creek's address is already input): DRIVING DIRECTIONS ___________________________________________________________________________ General Safety rules 1) Always obey the 3 basic rules of safety. Here is a refresher. 1) ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction 2) ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot 3) ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use 2) The firing line The firing line will be clearly marked with yellow caution tape. All shooters should fire only from the line. Your toes should be touching the line unless you are shooting prone then the muzzle should be acroos and downrange of the line. Belt fed weapons will of course sit back from the line with muzzles over the line. No loaded weapons on the range except on the line. This means that magazines are inserted into weapons at the line and removed before leaving the line. Ensure the weapon is unloaded before leaving the line. No one crosses the firing line without it being cleared. 3) Clearing the firing line Clears will be sounded by the Range Officer on duty. Weapons should not be handled during the clear, loading magazines is fine. 4) Eye and ear protection is required. Shooting other people weapons One of the best parts of these shoots is shooting other peoples weapons. There is nothing like trying out a rifle or pistol you have been eying before actually buying it. Any arrangement you come to with the other person is fine but there are some “rules of etiquette” if you will. Most all Class III owners will let you shoot their weapons for the asking provided you supply the ammunition. Some of the most generous owners will even supply ammunition, but if you think about it, this can get prohibitively expensive at a larger shoot when they are handing out free 30 round magazines of .223 ammunition to anyone who asks. So be prepared to offer to shoot your own ammo. Some owners are pickier than others and may have requirements such as brass cased factory ammo only, or no “brand X” ammunition or no reloads. Considering the amount of $$ invested in these weapons I think that is more than understandable.

A year and a half  That's just cruel an unusual punishment on that poor carbine, making it just sit there for that long Stock up your blasting ammo, as you will get your chance to break it in with style, lol.
Thanks, blurted, new faces are welcomed and encouraged for these events, sorry you've missed the previous ones. As far as the tannerite, no extra fees, I'll be providing at the minimum one case for the group to shoot at. I'm wanting to try the recipe that was posted in the Team Forum to see how well that homeade stuff works. I would love to bring a lot of that, as it is cheaper than tannerite. But I've got to test it out first, but it seems to work like a charm for many members here. But as a fail safe, I'll have a minimum of one case of tannerite regardless, and possibly more. Others can feel free to bring all the tannerite you wish, just understand that the placement of said tannerite must conform with our and the range's safety regulations. We WON'T take a chance of anything blowing back towards the firing line. Not that I think someone would be careless enough to do that, but everyone needs to keep safety in mind at all times. There will be plenty of us to watch the placements of the Tannerite. We've had a very clean record, lets' keep it that way everyone  Food, no idea at this point. Hopefully we can work something out on that later once we get an idea of the numbers showing up. |
Hi, Vengarr. I spoke with Kenny today in setting this date up, so we are a go for the 21st of July. Thanks for the fee correction, I changed it in the original post. By all means, I'm sure all of us would love to see some grilling and the camping is good to. When Bob and I briefly discussed getting this next shoot going, he had mentioned the possiblity of camping for those that wanted, but I forgot all about it while I was talking to Kenny  I'll IM you for more details on the food possiblities. |
Sorry you won't be able to make it, but that's understandable. So that's the weekend of the BLuegrass games eh? Well that works out pretty good for me, cause that means I couldn't have gone shooting at my regular range in Wilmore that weekend anyway, due to them usually taking up all range areas.
Lol, yeah, July is a little ways down the road, but with the ammo prices you, Scar1 and I were seeing last weekend, folks need time to stock up  Have no idea what the possiblity is of shooting at night, that will be a good question to ask if we camp. And don't give me that "i'm in, for now" crap, you're in damnit!
I will find that out for you. I'm sure that's definately easier on you Ohio guys to be able to wake up and be there. We want as many of you to come back down here as we can get.
Start time should be around 9:30 - 10 am. I'll nail it down officially closer to July. As far as the heat, uuuhhhh well, at least the shooting area is covered, so us shaved head guys won't get sunburned

| I spoke to Kenny today, Camping is a go, he will think about the price and let me know by next week. He is also cool with us using one of their huge gas grills so we can cook food no problem. I am willing to be the grill man, now we need to decide if we want to do chow, how are we gonna do it? |

I'll put the date on the calendar. Unless something breaks or bends I'll be there. What are the camping arrangements at KC? I can pitch a tent, build a fire and do just fine, but some amenities might make it more comfy.
10 or 12 miles away in Shepardsville (on I65) is a string of motels and restaurants. |

Hopefully GunCat's info helps you, and maybe some others from the area could chime in with suggestions. GunCat, I've never camped there so I have no idea. Bob, or Vengarr or whoever knows, which part is the camping area during a non KCR Machinegun Shoot weekend anyway?? |

For those of us who have not attended before... What kind of format/activities will be going on? Maybe we can have a small say $5 fee for everyone to cover paper plates, condiments, chips, buns etc and let everyone bring their own beverages and meat? Camping sounds like fun... Hey, can I bring my ATV? :-) |
We'll have shuffle board between 11-12, then croquet and horseshoes @ 1. For the grand finale at 3, we'll do finger painting  Sorry, couldn't resist, just kidding ya. Real activities include dumping as much lead as you can spare into a poor unsuspecting vehicle with utmost prejudice. During cease fire breaks we'll be going around the vehicle and placing tannerite bombs for everyone to aim for. Those tannerite bombs tend to lead to "WooHoos" and other comments when they go off and cause destruction and carnage Also, at any time anyone is welcome to visit the very nice and well stocked gun shop at Knob Creek as well. Just be careful if any of the "Ohio" crew asks you to help him out behind the building at any time. Yeah, we'll look at the food situation a little closer as we learn how many are camping and then how many will approxiamately will be at the shoot. As far as the atv goes, I would think that would be ok to go back and forth from the camp area and the range area, but I can't say for sure until I ask Kenny. |

The car has to be a VAN, its almost tradition. Ill see about a case of tannerite this time, kinda pay back bob for the several he has supplied. OK OK...........We have to do the hole crap that was allot of tannerite shuffle. Last time Bob was convinced to do half a gallon jug and man did it blow the hell out of the van, the only thing I could think of after that is......hummm what would a gallon jug doDid someone post this in the Ohio section so them guys can come on down as well? |
I don't have a m42000, but I do have one of the new m41000 cans sitting at my dealer waiting on the ATF approval right now. Performance wise, the 2000 and 1000 are supposedly identical, just different materials and a different mount for the 2007 model m42000. So there will at the very least be one of those there as long as the approval doesn't take too long I also have a Gemtech .308 can that will be there. So come on down and fill out your Christmas shopping list early.
