Since we've had WAHTF Pig, Corn, Chicken, and Crab shoots, it's time to move thru the menu! Turkey Time! Let's work out some details! I'm up for hosting, but, am limited on funds. I will have one or more 35+lb turkeys we can bury and smoke on Sat like the Pig Shoot, as, IMHO, that needs to be the center of the tradition, burying dead things with fire and eating them  Past that, I'll handle breakfast Sat & Sun mornings: eggs-pancakes-swine. EDIT: I have some property that we can utlize Sat noon-afternoon, Fri/Sun is also negotiable  The deal here is that it'll be predicated upon numbers of shooters...this location is diffferent than the "Chicken Shoot" in the Spring, and will be in WA, NOT in ID....so no Cans, please. The last place we used, we somehow caused some sort of headache for the landowner. I'm not sure what it was, and it seems it was inadverdant on our part, anyway, he's making some changes up there, and it'll be closed out to us for a time. He indicated to me that in the future, he'll have an area that'll be open for us to use. (I prolly neeed to bribe him with some ammo ) /EditJalu took care of the firewood issue last time around, so we're good there. Those that have already been, know the deal, inside floorspace is first come, first serve...(after Gibby  ). Downstairs bedroom availible for a traveler with spouse/children.Same rules apply as the LCR- Party type be aware kids are present, Parents with kids be aware of the party types that will be present, ect,ect,ect... For the new guys- I'm gonna try hard to not come of as a dick, but I dunno if it can be avoided on this topic..... here's the deal: The location is kept off the board as much as possible, since it's the Internet, however for planning purposes, the end point is just a bit south of Spokane Valley. To those that need then and get thru the next part, I'll be happy to IM Directions..... I am a firm beleiver in a sort of vetting process...Some of you I know, others I don't. If I haven't met you in person at a GTG, or you haven't been to a GTG/LCR ect, and don't have a couple of "regulars" that I know well to voucher you, I can't say I am really interested in having you out. There's a certian amount of liability I want to avoid, there's been asshats that have showed to some of the shoots, and certianly there's been media types that want to write articles about us....the recent Appleseed NY Slimes article is a good reason to keep our guard up. I hope you understand if you request to attend and I decline. Edit 9/28- Round Duex now that Mrs45 has given me her plan. OK gang...it looks like there is No Pig in E. WA  At least there's no pig when you call a day late. So here's the ALL NEW, 106% revised plan for chow: Fri night, I'll figure something out once I figure out how many are here.....most likely something simple like a gumbo, and Italian sausage dogs, The Mrs said she'd have potato salad and get some fruit on-hand. Sat lunch is Fri nite leftovers, and whatever you want to throw on my grill(s). Sat night: Smoked Pulled Pork, and TriTip. If need be, we can still get a turkey nekkid, and roast his ass too.  Sat & Sun morn is still GTG, Coffee, Cinnamon Rolls or Pancakes, & Eggs. We've got the beverage angle locked down, and I guess we'll start a "Roll Call" for those that want to bring a side or salad, the Mrs keeps nagging me to point out that donations are gladly accepted. /Edit Sat Night Side dishes: Matt45- Chili Beans, Bread, grilled ceasar salad, corn salad and brownies. Usually, the 1st week of Oct is late summery-type weather....the last week, Halloween, Fookin' bitter cold I'm anticipating a late summer this year, and a bitter winter. It should be high-60's, great for tent camping and a bonfire. We've got the fire pit in place...

I can obtain kegs at wholesale, thru my civvie employer. Moose Drool is about $90 for a 1/6 keg (8 gallons), domestics around $90 1/2 Bbl (15 gallons). Sam Adams, ect is a premium domestic, and fluxuates, but $135 is about right. As indicated, Imports are usually stoopid, and prohibitive. |
