I've read some posts about the new .45 Osprey on acouple other forums and I would like to know how enjoyable/comfortable it was for those who got to shoot it. Does this mean that AAC's New Ti-Rant has a competitor? Was it shot Dry, Wet or both?

Yes, we had an Osprey on our table and were letting people shoot it. I was hoping to also have the Ti-RANT in .45 ACP (we did have one in 9mm) but it just didn't work out. We shot the Osprey dry all day. It was never shot wet on my 1911. This is Josh from SilencerCo with the Osprey on my 1911. .jpg) The suppressor was very quiet and functioned flawlessly for well over 500 rounds. The design allows for the sights to be seen over the suppressor. The suppressor tightens down via a detent button that must be pressed in to engage some teeth on the piston. Once tight, let go of the button and you can index the suppressor wherever you want it. It will move freely around the piston but not without some force. It doesn't flop around on the piston in other words. LOL. It never moved the whole time we were firing it. Retail is $850. The first production run will likely be finished in something like three or four weeks. The Ti-RANTs in .45 will hopefully be available around the same time. It will be nice to shoot these both side by side. I think they are both very nice suppressors. Were going to be testing out the suppressor we had at the shoot over the next few weeks. I want to get 2K rounds through one on a couple different hosts. Mark edit to correct retail. |

They are sealed cans.
There is a 9mm version also. We shot that at the shoot for a bit on a Sig and it worked very well. Would have liked to shoot it next to the Ti-RANT, Trident and Evo cans we also had but the free-for-all MG frenzy on the firing line by later in the day made it almost impossible to really shoot any two items side by side for a good comparison. Heck, one guy touched off an unsuppressed round from a rifle. Yeah, that guy sure was interested in what silencer he was trying. 
The .45 Osprey will be the first out of the gate. Not sure how things will go with the 9mm version. Mark |

It is definitely a hearing safe can! the mount is very interesting. It moves around the central axis, but it is tight enough that it doesn't rotate while firing or without grasping the can. As Bookhound said, there is a detent that engages a notch to allow the can to be tightened onto the barrel. |

The Osprey according to Silencer Co unofficially tested 132.5 Dry and 123 wet on a 5" 1911.
I asked and that was their response- I doubt that had plans to publish that, but I don't see a reason to keep good news to myself. That's pretty outstanding. Since the Tirant results were supposed to be shocking according to some, What does that make the Osprey 
Maybe they sprinkle each unit with magic fairy dust before assembly. |

Very interesting product. Unique, from anything I've seen. Kind of has a "com-bloc" look to it with the squared-off sides. For some reason it reminds me of those old Soviet locomotives that would travel around the USSR hauling rockets and tanks... In other words, it looks pretty badass. My next supressor decision/purchase will be .45; this is def in the running. I'd love to have one that could run dry. It will be nice to see some more reviews as they come out. cheers, Benji |

I enjoy shooting my suppressed 1911s VERY much. Having to put a little wet medium in them for best performance isn't that big of a pain for me. A quality wet 45 can is quieter to my ear than a dry 9mm. Now, with the Osprey 45 and Ti-Rant 45 about to be unleashed on the world I think a lot of people who were turned off by having to "wet" a 45 can are gonna be reaching for their wallets. Take care. I am impressed with the osprey but would like to see a different mount design. The can seems mushy on the piston, has parts to loose, and the orientation can change. Overall it is still a big win for consumer demand. That was a prototype design. I think you'll like the production version.

I am curious what the release date is for the Osprey. I plan on putting a deposit on one through Polite Society Inc. Do you know when serial numbers will be available to them to start the transfer process?
Also do you know when you will get on to John Titsworth at SilencerReseach.com for testing. What is your warranty on the Osprey? I got this back today: Hello Chris
We will have the serial numbers available for Polite Society hopefully by the end of next week. We are currently gearing up for production and getting our manufacturing processes dialed in. John Titsworth will have one in 2 weeks at the latest, and PSI will also have one to demo in two weeks as well. The warranty on the osprey is a lifetime warranty. Thanks Josh |

| I have been running around with an Osprey sample for about a week now doing demo's , it is very, very quiet. Unbelievably so with the .40 and scary Quiet in 9mm. .45 is also very quiet and does meter low 130's. Everyone who I have demo'd for that has heard several centerfire handgun cans agrees it is quieter than most and competes favorably with Tirant. New indexing system rocks and is very quick and stable. |

Did dealer day @ Get Some Guns and Ammo here in SLC with my sample Osprey .45 and 9mm yesterday. Stuart the owner took it on his indoor range and shot it on my glock host and came off the range with a big ol grin and a limp... I call it Osprey Erection.
According to Josh we will start shipping soon. Silencerco is taking orders now. If you want one quick I suggest you get an order in. If you already have an order , make sure your dealer has actually placed the order with Silencerco. I believe that has already been done for Polite society. Don't know those guys but Josh and crew speak very highly of them. This is a nice , nice end result and has been well worth the wait. All LE accounts that I have Demo'd for have been most impressed. I can't wait for 5.56 and 7.62! |

I had a chance to shoot the Osprey in .45 and 9mm over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Osprey in 9 is every bit as quiet as a 22Sparrow on a P22 w/ Remington Subsonic. The 45 Osprey shot wet is not much louder at all and is amazing for a .45 Both are very impressive products from a great company. +1 for PSI if you're looking to purchase a SilencerCo product. |
