Barrel is 13.25" long with a 3" muzzle brake. Total barrel length measured from the end of the muzzle brake to the breech face is 16.25". I think the next one I do I will cut the barrel as short as I can get it.

Interesting....personally I like the PSL barrel as is. That shorty would go well with a 20rd mag.

If 20 round mags were available......It's going to feel like the ban days all over again. Oh, and there's WAY too many PSLs with wasted metal hanging off the end out there.

Now that is pretty frickin cool........

Where'd you get the Tabuk style flash suppressor, and how well does it work?

That, sir, is pure awesomeness.

I will take a guess that it is a Nodakspud flash hider.

Nice but I bet that stock is a bitch after a few rounds.

Give me that with a "normal" ak stock and you've got 100% pure win

Neat rifle, and probably good for a tactical niche of 0-500 meters, which 400 meters farther than the average guy on this site.

What kind of glass are you going to mount on it?  The only issue would be that I've heard PSLs really like light bullets (<150 grs.) so that would impact your selection.

Sweeeet.  Wish there were 54r hi-cap mags.

Did you use a cut down psl gas tube or is that an AK tube?

How about the lower handguard, is that a regular lower hg retainer or how'd you do it?

Drilling a gas port not too hard?

Pretty much everything had to be fitted to work. Those are standard AK handguards from K-Var. The gas tube is Romanian and was fitted to the PSL, I moved the gas block back so it fit with the piston and then drilled and pinned it, then fit the gas tube to that. Gas port is drilled at a 45 degree angle but is MUCH smaller than a standard AK gas port.

Honestly, I did it on a dare. But there's so many PSL's floating around and I wanted to do something that REALLY wailed.....this is it. I guess I don't have to worry about barrel whip anymore though.

Because I have a small penis? Does that satisfy your request for a reason? How about....umm.....because I felt like it? Sorry, don't want to sound like a dick or anything, in fact, it usually pisses me off when people stray from the original design of a firearm but this was one of those "I wonder if I can do this" type things.

Haha, I love it. That has got to have a satisfying report, and a healthy muzzle flash.

Damn you NBR!

I so need one of these now... will go with the "normal" stock though.

..something to keep the short FAL company.

Because the PSL uses the effective range of the caliber so effectively?

I would guess there aren't many PSL's capable of acceptable accuracy past 400 yards..

I still got some bugs to work out so they are 100% reliable, but cost would have to be about $1200 to make it worth my while, I think.

+1 The round is capable much farther out than even an original PSL is capable of. I'd be curious of what that could do with the stiffer barrel, a trigger job and hand-loaded ammo when sandbagged....

I was going to use wood furniture but the modifications that needed to be done are much easier to do on the plastic stuff. The recoil isn't that bad, at least it isn't bad when you're more worried about getting your hearing back....it's obnoxiously loud. I am currently hunting for some Yugo M92 parts (front sight/gas block combo, gas tube, hinge and top cover and under folder stock and trunnion) for my next PSL build.

So I went to the gun show this weekend and picked up a 220 round 30cal ammo can of 54r. When I got to the range, I had a PSL mag with 10 rounds in it and the ammo can. I opened the ammo can (for the first time since I bought it) and it was 8mm Mauser. I am EXTREMELY pissed. Anyways, I fired 5 rounds, then just as I was finishing up the 10 rounds I had, I remembered to take a video. Here's the last few rounds being fired through the mag:

Wow, whats the velocity on those ejected cases?  The regular PSL I have shot launch the empties about 20 feet into the air.  Yours look like they are trying to take out your camera man.
