When I took my Glock armorers class the guy had a gun with one. he said I could order it, but its nowhere in the book to be found. it was in the slide show for crying out loud. along with a "tan" glock he said "doesnt exist" (no OD, TAN like the field knife tan.) |

It could also be a G20 or G21 mag release!
If I recall correctly there at one time was four different lengths. The original G17 had a very short overall length, then the common G17 G19 length release, then the G21 G20 length, then the "extended" magazine release. (in that order) Now I think there are only two factory lengths. With the G21 G20 length supplied as the "extended" release for use in the G17 size frames. |

My brother in law's issue G22 has the OEM magazine release so I guess that IS what he's talking about. In that case, my G19 and G22 both have the FBI mag release. So all Glocks come with one from the factory. Don't waste your time or money on something just because someone says the FBI uses it. |

The point is this release is slightly longer than the stock release, but shorter than glock's extended release The problem is allot of people have trouble operating the stock release and glock's extended release is to long and can accidentally be tripped while in the holster. |
| I put one of the mag releases for the 21 in my 19 and had the same problem. I took a file and rounded it down to where I could still reach it w/o shifting my grip and it wouldn't trip in the holster. I later bought a 22 and picked up one of the Vickers releases. Turns out that they both have the same length. The Vickers isn't a bad idea. |

Even I install on my G34 and in my G17 the Arotek versions modifiying the frame, IMHO it worth it, recently I buy in Italy the Glock OEM Pro version of the mag release and looks very good.

It´s funny that in the USA, wich I think is the biggest market for Glock pistols, those items were restricted or whatever you want to call it, I buy the 4.5lb. connector/maritime firing pin spring cups/higher Newton firing pin springs directly from the Glock representative for the southern hemisphere in Uruguay and the oval magazine catch and other goodies from a gunshop in Italy, when it could be more easier for me to buy it in the U.S.A.,

Back to original topic of the mag release........I don't know about the FBI thing. I do know that I really like the Vickers release. I am switching all my glocks over to it ASAP. I was running the typical extended, and in my last competition, I had a mag shoot out of my gun. You know the stages where you sit in the chair and have the gun on the table next to you. Well I grabbed too hard and took off running and my mag shot out the bottom of my gun. I recovered well, but in real life that could have been deadly. Back to the Vickers.....you can lay it down on a table an bang on it and the mag wont release by accident, but is easier to get to than the stock release. My .02.
