Well, it has taken over a year and a good bit of $, but my MAK is finally done. I posted some pics earlier, but now they are gone, so I will repost them.
Here is how it started. It was a slant cut stamped reciever that was drilled for the underfolding stock. Picked it up from a local boardmember.
I picked up the underfolding stock and grip from another boardmember, as well as a Tapco FCG, us muzzlebrake, and us mag followers and floorplates.
But is still wasn't right. It had a hole in the rear so I chopped the tang off and sent it to Troy at InRange. This is the work he did.
After a quick touch up job with alumahyde II from Brownells it was looking pretty good. But I still was not happy with it. It had a "garage" threading job that did not allow any kind of brake to stay on. I even tried one of those adapters that has tension screws to hold it in place. Did not work. I then found a Type 56 preban barrel on sale in the EE. I snatched it up quickly. Then it was the waiting game for Troy to find time to swap it out for me. While waiting, I picked up a US gas piston as well.
Well, it got back on Monday and I am verry happy with how it turned out!
Now I just need to get to the range and see how the new barrel does!
