Okay, I just finished mounting my first red dot on my first AK and thought I'd share some pics of the completed work. The mounting plate is an MPK2, the mount is a BP-02 (both from Tantal) and the optic is a SightMark (remake of the Aimpoint clone, TacPoint, from Talon Arms). The Sightmark has a 5MOA dot,10 brightness settings, water resistant, and all that good stuff. People have submerged theirs in aquariums for a whole day without malfunctions, and some have taken it into the sandbox for a whole tour without it failing. The BP-02 is a Belarussian low-rise mount, and it is much more stable than the Ultimak gas-tube rail because it is fixed to the receiver. The mount was secured with screws and loc-tite. I will be taking it out to the range this coming weekend to sight it in and see how it feels. There is another mod you can do to make the optic sit lower, but I won't get into that until I see how it shoots first.     and some mag porn ;P

I have yet to shoot that wolf in my M70. It is 154gr soft point and just came in for my SHTF stash. I've shot WOLF out of my yugo SKS before and like it marginally better than Golden Tiger. GT seems to leave more metallic residue in my gun than Wolf. I think I heard an explanation as to why, but can't really recall. As far as accuracy, with the SKS it was virtually the same. I will test out the accuracy on Saturday with the new red dot to see how they group compared to the GT. |
