Ok... So I'm not doing it myself... but I have planned it & decided how I wanted it done. Here's the 1st inspection. How many of you can say your AR has had a CAT SCAN??  Here's a link to what I started with new build I'll post new pics as I get them or when it's done. David |

Sure, especially if you are shelling out cash and sending out specific components to be changed to your specs. Even just refinishing. Even if you just put it back together, it looks more of a build than some folks consider as a build. Pushing two pins and installing a mail order upper is not much of a build. |

Well here are the stats when I got it: FN/Kaiser A2 upper receiver Colt bolt carrier FN bolt RR FP Compass Lake Engineering lower Rock River 2 Stage trigger Rock River 6 position CAR stock EMCO Mil-Spec 20" chrome lined, Magnetic Particle tested barrel with a 1/7 twist    I'm changing the upper receiver to one of the Colts I have. A3 none M4. Barrel has extension. one on top  I'm replacing the FSB with an M&A top railed gas block & replacing the hand guards with a Bushy FF varminter. Replacing the RR std. grip with a DPMS Panther Tactical grip. I am also gonna give McFarland 1pc. gas ring a try as well. The upper & lower receiver, barrel and stock tube are going to be OD green Gun Kote. ALL other parts including all of the receiver's pins and mag will be black Gun Kote. I've already got my scope (Buckmasters 6-18x40 SF Matte Nikoplex) and Larue SPR. I'm considering a Magpul PRS... but that may have to come later. I'm gonna end up adding GG&G front & read folding BUIS later. The rifle's being done by Claude Wright of CW Shooters. After I get it back and get his approval to post his price for refinnishing... 'cause it's a very good price as of now.  David |
All 4 uppers, 1 Colt A2 not shown, were M16 uppers. I have a feeling they came from Navy surplus. All 4 upper receivers have the auto sear relief. But other than cosmetic issues, there sound.  David |
I think not. It's not my business & I don't get anything out of it. I am only recommending him and telling everyone what he's charging me. If anyone wants to persue his services... that's up to them. Well, it's finally here. What'd ya think?? It's been Gun Koted OD Green on the barrel, upper and lower receiver, as well as the stock tube. Everything else is done in Matte Gun Kote black. The Free Float hand guard is a Bushmaster Verminter. The railed gas block is a M&A and the scope mount is a Larue SPR 1.5. I've mounted a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 x 40 scope with a 1" tube, and protected by Butler Creek Flip-Up Scope Covers. Range report to come after I go to the range this weekend. This is a 1/7 twist barrel, so I will be shooting 75gr. Hornady and Black Hills as well as 77gr. Black Hills. There's a couple spots I'm not sure I'm happy with. I've talked to him & he will make it right like I knew he would, but then again... I may be just whining about nothing too.           David |

Thanks Turn-Key. It's the "OD Green". Claude added some black to darken it up... He said it looked a little too much like Pea green. I don't think he saw the "Mil-Spec OD Green" they offer. From what I can tell... it looks pretty close to what they show as "Mil-Spec OD Green". The sunlight really brings out the green. When it's overcast, like yesterday, it looked damn near black, that's why I waited to take pics 'til today. David |

I ordered the light OD green. I hope it matches my green PRS stock, it looked close. I also got some gray just to play with. I forgot to ask, is that a Nikon Tactical? I see it has side focus. How do you like it? I'm still up in the air about a scope. I've been looking at the Super Sniper, Leupold, and the Night Force. I'll be interested in reading your range report. Good luck and be safe! I've been looking @ that for awhile now. I will most likely get one later. I have a DPMS pommel grip, but not sure if I'm gonna use it or not. Anyone have a very good priced dealer for the PRS??? David EDA: And how does it mount?? And can you use a 6 pos. stock tube, buffer & spring?? |

You'll need to change to a standard tube, spring, and buffer. Then it attaches with a screw. |

Well she's running like a champ... as long as you don't use 75 or 77gr ammo. It's running 55 great. I figured out why after checking the carrier group. The McFarland ring I had installed is WAY too tight. I swapped out the bolt for my Bushy bolt & it ran 75 & 77gr fine. As soon as I get rings I'll head to the range again... prob. this Sat.
