I saw (and created a link to) a thread here some time ago with pics & instructions on how to appropriately wrap a VFG with cord. Unfortunately it's too old and I've scanned all 26 pages of this forum and can't find it. Can anyone find it or help me with how to do this?
I plan on doing it for my VFG and ACE ARFX for my new SIG 556 SBR. I could try but I want a more permanent solution and I could spend a lot of time screwing it up. HELP! |

OK, After not hearing any response I decided to search a little harder and found another thread here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=417498 after using the site search for "cord".
I'll post some pics after I finish. It may be a while as I don't have my paperwork back for my SBR.

| In response to Defensor: thanks for the tip. I'm actually just bored and with a brand new TAPCO grip (which has little groovies in it that seem to be almost made for 550...hmmm) and a spool of 550 the size of a small car tire, I wanted to play around and see what I could come up with. |

I'll second the grip tape suggestion....I've got 2-3 thin stips around the circumference of my vert grip....not too much, and not too little. FWIW, I've also placed thin strips on the bottom of my magazines - on each of the four sides to assist in gripping them. I never liked the fabricated mag pulls (like 550 cord loops), nor the manufactured mag-pulls. Works for me...
As a matter of fact, I have placed very narrow strips of skateboard tape on the edges of my Blackberry - where I grasp it to pull it out of my belt pouch - works great. I got the idea when I saw a package of similar little pre-cut pieces in a Radio Shack. They were asking $11.00 for the package, which was maybe enough for two cell phones. Hell, I bought one sheet of skateboard tape - around 12" X 24" at a skateboard shop for $5.00... With that one sheet, I've cut strips for about 1 doz 30 round magazines, my vertical grip, both my Glocks, two cellphones/Blackberry's and another 4-5 co-workers Blackberry's, ...I've still got over half the sheet left!!! Can't ya tell I like the stuff!!!! |
