| In the next week or so I am going to purchase a RRA Car A4 9mm upper. My lower is a Colt MT6400 with fixed CAR stock. I know I need to get a 9mm hammer, and an ASA mag block will be purchased as well. I am currenty using an LMT "H" buffer with a Wolff extra power recoil spring. Do I need to purchase a 9mm buffer, spacer and spring? Are there any other considerations or things I need to get? |
| Purchase the 9mm buffer. You can get one from Rock River Arms for $30. You are going to need the spacer for the standard stock. If you are going to purchase the ASA block you might think about having it modified for last bolt hold open with Colt mags. Garrison also makes a block that his last round bolt hold open and inserts from the top. |

The bolt will not hold open unless you have both.........mag with tab on follower (Colt mags) and magwell adapter with a bolt catch actuator. The tab on the mag follower hits the acuator on the magwell adapter and the acuator on the mag adapter contacts the bolt catch on the lower, which holds the bolt open. I found a video clip that show how it works. Click here I have an ASA block and I use Colt mags. I was confuse at first and thought all I needed was the mag to hold the bolt open. I had a slot cut in my ASA block and added an 9mm bolt catch to my lower..........the 9mm bolt catch has a longer arm that cotacts the tab on the follower. Here are some pics of my block:    |
And the RRA block stays in Ok during mag changes and the such? Can it only be taken out by removal of the upper reciever? I'm looking at both right now and am debating between the 2. |

Is a Colt 9mm bolt catch a part everyone would be interested in? If so, I could stock those for you. Steve |
