Hello all,
The A-Alpha PT Helmets, has been in use with the most High Speed units in the US arsenal for years. For almost 2 decades, SOF units have been using and modifying skateboard helmets as an alternative to the issued Kevlar for missions where speed is more critical than protection. These lightweight helmets protect the operator from the bumps he would receive on the battlefield during room entries and vehicle egress. PT Helmets stepped up and designed the A-Alpha with input from members of the Special Operations community, including features that were previously retrofitted in the field as standard options. TNVC is now proud to offer these helmets to the general public. The A-Alpha is an affordable, lightweight tactical helmet designed for Military and Law Enforcement Special Operations. Available in three sizes (M,L,XL) and three non-reflective matte colors, it features a removable ACH 4pt chin strap that provides the wearer a more stable NVG platform. The A-Alpha is pre-drilled for both single and 3-hole pattern NVG shrouds, giving the user complete freedom to use any shroud on the market. The shell is expanded polystyrene with removable EVA foam padding, meets EN1078, ASTM1040, and is HALO/HAHO jump rated. The A-Alpha comes with a hard-mounted picatinny rail on the left for accessory attachment, pile tape patch on the right for flag or morale patches, and a goggle retention strap on the back. The PT Helmets A-Alpha is the helmet our customers have been asking for. The removable 4pt chin strap is the real gem because, until now, other helmets on the market have needed modification to create a stable night vision platform. Believe us when we tell you, this helmet is stable right out of the box! Monocular and binocular style NODs stay put and are quite comfortable over long periods of time. If you want, you can even replace the standard four-point chin strap with the excellent Ops-Core Headloc system for an even greater level of stability and comfort. Though, to make this modification, the attachment holes will need to be opened up with a drill bit to accept the larger bolts. The universal mounting option for NVG shrouds is another great feature. Measuring and drilling mount holes in helmets is a complicated and frustrating task; especially if you are trying to mount a 3-hole WARCOM pattern shroud. But, the A-Alpha is good to go out of the box. We have personally tested both the Ops-Core VAS and Norotos shrouds with perfect results. Installation of the shroud is free from TNVC and is included in the price of the package. Of course, the standard single-hole MICH mount is available and works like a charm too. However we are so impressed with the functionality and cost-effectiveness of the Ops-Core VAS shroud, we have decided to offer this as combo package (with or without a rhino arm). I just added the Ops shroud to my old A-Alpha. I already had the Ops chin strap system on it, whatever they call that particular piece of tack. I haven't done anything more than walk around the house with it, but I REALLY like it so far. Feels much more stable when you're clickin a 3500 piece of equipment on the front of it. I'm telling anyone that needs to know to give you guys a holler for all their NVG noggin mounting needs.

i understand the need for a helmet like this for operators but are they not worrying about their noggins? why not get the MICH/ACH? There are some types of mission work were speed is everything and weight reduction is a top priority. Btw, WELCOME to the ARFCOM! It's always nice to see 1st posters come on in to our threads. Bummer, my noggin has a circumference of 24"  A lot of guys in SAR and VBSS roles wear these helmets for speed. After a while, kevlar can weigh you down and hurt your neck. Besides, the MICH will not stop a rifle round anyway. High speed guys have been running this helmet for a long time. The most notable example is the Black Hawk Down incident. |

| PT Helmets has been filling MIL/GOV orders for the A-Alpha. They do not have any in stock because their inventory goes out as soon as it comes in. As a dealer, we get them by placing orders. They might not have them in stock, but we do. It you want one (or ten), call us. |

I'm looking for a way to mount my A2 aviator on the rail of this fine helmet and I was wondering if there is a mount that would allow me to adjust the position of the light.

When you really think about it the ballistic helmets wont take anything above a handgun round.... They barely protect against blast shrapnel because most of the shrapnel is coming from the ground up not airbursting over our heads. I guess the only thing they are good for is the random RPG that hits a wall next to you. With that in mind id rather have something lighter and faster that protects against impacts with furniture, vehicle interiors, door jams, ect. Id much rather Roll with a light non ballistic helmet. Thats just me though. Lighter and faster means your ods of getting hit are alot less. Thats the same theory of thought that operators are keeping in mind when they go to a plate carrier over an IOTV. |

I have the XL side cut dual velcro/rail version and use it with a Howard Leight headset (radio audio to the headset's input jack), ESS NVG Profile Goggle's, VAS Shroud, Rhino mount, Surefire 6P with 3 Watt IR (never need it with the Gen 3) and a double battery PVS-14 - entire setup works great. I have a large head so I removed the top peice of foam and the headband of the ear protection provides the right amount of padding up there for me.
