You really don't need it to be hot, just cut and paste.

I bought one last year and had it threaded by ADCO.  The only issue I had was running 154gr WOLF (polymer).  Although, I haven't sat down to try to get 'pull out the micrometer groups', I'm happy with it's performance.  Especially suppressed

Let me put the rifling twist into perspective.   Most all 30-06's have a 10 twist and most all 308's have a 12 twist.   So the 12 twist for Colt's barrel is in line for the 7.62x39 which normally isn't suppose to shoot those real heavy bullets.

I'm glad some of you got you a Colt barrel at a cheap price.  I didn't even look to see if GPC gave much of a dealer discount on it either.

One showed up here today.

It slugs a perfect .310 in the grooves.

I was somewhat amazed to find the barrel extension has M4 cuts.

Not coincidentally, a 16" Del-Ton - Wilson barrel showed up today as well.

It slugs .3108 in the grooves.

Interior finish isn't nearly as nice as the Colt barrel.

I'm pondering turning a 13" twist .308 barrel just to see what it would do with the new 135g Matchking.

That's funny on the Wilson barrel because mine slugs .3095 in the grooves.   I knew the Colt would be .310 dead on the money.

does anybody know if the gas system holes are drilled and does it come with a front sight base?

No front sight and says it's not threaded.  I would assume the gas port is drilled but not sure if it has the barrel notches for the front sight pins.

The gas port is drilled.

There is no front sight base included.

The holes for the front sight base pins are NOT drilled.

farrin, are you saying the .308 barrel is used for shooting the 7.62x39 round?

With very few exceptions, you'll find 7.62x39 bores at .310'ish and surplus/cheap commercial projectiles from .309-.312.

My interest is in shooting 7.62x39 with a .308" projectile.

I've been unable to find any currently manufactured .308 groove 7.62x39 AR-15 barrels.

Surplus/cheap commercial ammunition is great, but I've long wanted to see what the 7.62x39 could do with a decent bullet and barrel.

I received a 7.62x39 .3085 throat reamer and gauges a few weeks ago.

I chambered a 9.25" .308 10 twist pistol barrel with it this weekend, will try it out over the holidays.

A couple of 12 twist 17" barrels should arrive here sometime in July.
