[ARCHIVED THREAD] - RRA/DPMS 308'S ( 56k Beware)

Just to let you guys know, I have not been sleeping

Here is the E1 rail system mounted on a DPMS and a RRA 308.
No modes required on the DPMS. RRA requires a small spacer to make
up the difference in length of thread at the receiver. If I get some interest,
I will maked dedicated RRA barrel nuts for them that will eliminate the spacer.
Over all the RRA appears very well made

These are the same ones I have been making for the AR10's, I just cut out
under the top rail so the gas block would fit and made a spacer for the barrel nut
to work.

I should really stop looking at other AR's. Seeing a quad rail like that makes me want to replace mine.... and its perfectly fine. Haha. Nice AR man, love that rail. Def. one of my favorites... along w/ the Armalite

Is the RRA LAR-8 the same as the old Bushmaster BAR10? If so, how do I get one of your quad rails?!

All I will say is the length of the thread is the same. The pitch of the thread is the
same. If you have a Bushmaster, I would have to check the thread as there
were two different situations with them and it would depend which one you
had as to whether or not it would work.

Yes, It "should". I have found quite a few of the first Bushmasters that the
threads were looser on, though.

Off topic, but will the DPMS upper fit on the RRA lower?

My DPMS is a tackdriver, but I have only a pair of mags for it at this time. However, being an FAL guy, I have two or three spare FAL mags, and if I could standardize on one mag type, I'd be pretty durned happy.

It might. the radius looks the same on the upper. Never tried to pin one up, though.
If I get another upper in for installing a tube, I have a buddy that has a DPMS
that we can try it on.

Thanks, sniperx. If I run across someone at the range with an LAR, I'll ask if they don't mind a quick test. However, it sounds as if you're more likely to find out sooner than I will.

I spoke to tech people at both RRA (steve) and Bushmaster and they both confirmed that the LAR-8 with a very few minor changes to the bolt carrier group and charging handle area are most definitely the same rifle. A new RRA bolt carrier group from the RRA will also swap out 1:1 in the BAR-10. The differences are in the bolt carrier and charging handle and charging handle channel only. The bolt head is a 1:1 match and will fit the BAR-10 barrel extension also.

Bushmaster licensed the LAR-8 plans for production from RRA. When Bushy stopped making them and gave up their license RRA decided to build them.
