All Colt's/Knight's/Trijicon on a MT6400C lower. Had to use a M16A2 barrel, planning on replacing the FSB at some point. Will also install a side swivel up front.

Looking great.... beats my Frankengun A4, hahaha! I have a Bushmaster upper with Colt barrel, RRA lower with a Colt stock and grip and RRA internals!!! I do have the M5 RAS, TA31F and a Troy rear sight though. Mine shoots well but yours looks a lot smoother than mine!

Why did you put the vertical grip so close to the magwell? I forgot to compliment your rifle. Nice job by the way.

Thanks guys, I think it is purdy slick, kinda heavy though.

Some will mount the grip farther out, and then grab the mag well.

Concerning the pic of the Marine (in "digital-flage"): what is that mounted on the RAS topside? Kinda looks like a rearward facing cantilever mount without a sight or rings?

I put mine there too, I actually like to grip the mag well but it becomes to hot so the grip does fine there.

You guys DO realize that the difference is not the height of the FSB, but that the channel in the FSB isn't machined as deep, right? The channel where the post is installed is machined .040" higher than standard, so that a standard post can be used. This apparently was to simplify the spare parts situation for the military, without considering that people might move barrels from one receiver type to another (something that's traditionally has been rare in the military, but is very common for civilians).

The rest of the AR world simply uses a taller post in the standard FSB, so that one barrel assembly can work on any upper receiver. The results are functionally identical; they just use two different methods to get there. The Colt method works less well for civilians, especially those who own their own barrel wrench and action blocks...

What kind of side sling mount are you going to use? If you are going to use the Colt side sling mount that attaches to the barrel I have one that I'd be happy to donate if you need it. Like this one:

If you are going to use a mount that attaches to the rail I certainly understand, but if you need one of mine please let me know

I need something cleared up for me please. I am not very familiar with the RAS system.

Does the RAS touch the front HG cap? It appears to be touching and hence negate the FF...yes?

The RAS is not FF. The M4 and M5 RAS, as shown here, are direct replacements for the standard handguards.

Looks just like my A4gery. 100% Colt, topped with a Trijicon TA31F. Only difference is that I don't have the M5 RAS. Not sure I would like the extra weight.

I'll be getting my TA-31F tomorrow. The owner's manual should tell you exactly what distance to zero at.

Looks like a mount for the AN/PVS-17A.

The RAS M5 handguards are .46 pounds heavier then standard guards. That is less the grip and panels. I need to weight the rifle as it is now, but I would guess it is right at 9 lbs without the mags.

Bought that a year of so ago, don't recall from where. Got it off some on-line store. I really don't like it, gets in the way when shooting from the weak side.

I have a Bushmaster factory built "M16A4gery". Do I have a taller front sight post on it or does bushmaster use taller FSBs? And what are the differences in measures between the FSBs and posts?

it it's just that the channel in the top of the FSB is machined higher, how come the A1 receiver i switched over to a flattop needed a taller front sight post AND the taller post stuck up past the ears?
