Must be current Austin, area resident. This ain't fun time, this is serious work. Safety first. Only those that move safely, with alacrity, and thick skin, need apply. Daily duties will be test-firing / proof-grouping rifles, recording / storing / documenting results, careful handling of said firearms to maintain their pristine features ... Other duties will be maintaining range, ammo inventory, cleaning supplies, etc. and anything else deemed pertinent. Military experience a plus ... moving with alacrity a must. I think there is a need for a simultaneous testing program in a Northern below zero climate. Good with details. Self-starter. Safety is paramount. No douchebaggery. Ready to go ASAP. I live in the Austin area (10 minutes from LaRue Tactical). NRA Certified Rifle and Pistol Instructor, NRA RSO Retired military...... OH CRAP I COULD BE THE ONE! But I still have my county job and then there is our gunshop in Liberty Hill. I guess I better pass, got to sleep sometime. ETA: But I am bubling over with ALACRITY!!!! |

Amazing opportunity for the right person but I have a feeling this job would be along the lines of being a gynecologist. You'd be up to your elbows in something you loved all day, that when it came time to enjoy the one you have at home, you would already be sick of it.

(I may be soon; tech jobs are still heading to Asia) Completely Off Topic: Having a dream job - I've had them before and the fun turns into work all too fast. Years ago I was a divemaster in the Florida Keys working on a boat in paradise, doing something I really liked and was very good at. 12 & 18 hour days, and you never knew if you had a day off until early morning when you looked at the flags upon waking. Blowing? How hard? Which direction? When I did get a day off the weather really sucked. If anyone was going out to get divers in the water, it would have been me as I was able to do that when others could not. Setting an anchor is an art in heavy seas, and handling the people even more so. The dive shop owner and boat captain was a real A-hole... not a nice guy to work for. There were a few times I came close to grabbing my gear and swimming the 6 miles back to shore. In hindsight I would have been better off doing exactly that, save for leaving the customers. On the other hand, I learned a whole sh!t-load about people; lessons not available any other way. Very memorable, very educational, and the money sucked ass.

I would jump on this if I were closer. Now you have me wondering about how many tens of thousands of rounds I would have to shoot before I wouldn't enjoy it anymore..
