Ok, I think I've got the main report sorted out (minus a nit). The raw data page still flags multiple posts, but thats more an indication of how the parser is working, so I'll leave it. (Plus the raw data script is a bit less involved so the data structures that allow easy comparison of posts don't exist.) |

Thanks to mnd for the reports....I just wish more people would figure out how to use it. I would never pick a number that had already been picked....and for the first time in 3 months...someone picked the same number that I did almost a full day after I choose it. Oh well...thanks for the report and to Mark for the contest. |
Yeah same thing happened to me in August. It's really not that hard to look up the number you want to pick. I personally think the duplicate poster should get dq'd for being lazy. On another note I was thinking how amazing it is for Larue to put up a package like this every month! It just blows me away that a company would give back to the community to this extent. This is way more than some free tid bits. Big thumbs up to Mark and the Larue Team

It's not necessarily laziness. I've chosen the same number since the first contest as it's a significant figure in my unit. Each month I've been the only one to choose that number, and my plan is to stick with it. However, today I entered it and found that it's been adopted by another, as well  I guess I'm the duper, but it's still my number

Thanks especially to "LaRue" for even doing this crazy contest! On the other hand, thanks again mnd for this awesome tool!  Still sorry, we can't get enough folks to figure out "1 in a thousand" chance vs. "1000 choices x infinity!  (Not "precise" engineering wording, but you get my meaning!)B2 They must be either young, obama-bin-biden voters, superstitious, liberal arts majors or just plain hard-headed! (Yep, and the lack of "rule-following" ability in previous contests...  ) |

It still does not make any sense to me why a person would want to decrease their odds of winning, because that is exactly what takes place when you pick a number that has already been picked. It's fine to have "a number" that you like to pick....but if someone else gets it first, pick another number that has not been chosen. Last month I picked my daughters birthday and was planning to do the same this month, but someone had already choose that number so I just picked another one. Ok...I am off my soapbox now. I am just very thankful that Mark gives us the opportunity to pick a number and a chance to win.

You may be right...but based off the staggering number of people posting their number in the wrong thread.....not sure that it would help much. By and large people just don't pay close attention or just don't want to take the time to look it up. I like the way ML threw the curve ball this time with the "This is not the thread"....people still did it wrong.

Now i feel like a dumbass LMAO i have quit reading the first post just look at the contest report and make sure i pick a unoccupied number. |
