So i was bored today and decided to make some English Muffins. Followed this recipe. This is my second time making them. The first time i rolled the dough out to thin and about 75% of the batch was to thin to eat properly. This time I left the dough about 3/4" and then used a pizza cutter to cut the dough. Didn't take any pics of mixing the dough or spreading it out. Pics start right after cutting the dough apart:
Plopped them on my griddle set at 350
After the first turn
After cooking them on the griddle for about 7-8mins per side, I chose to throw them in the oven at 350 for about 6 mins, just to make sure the center got done all the way.
And after coming out of the oven
After cooling for about 15 mins, then being toasted
And with the obligatory butter
These things turned out awesome this time EZ |

Glad you found something useful sir, hope it turns out well.
Someone had PM'd me and asked why I didn't cut them into circles. Answer is because it doesn't really matter what shape they are, and doing them this way I used all the dough without wasting any. For the last batch I cut them out with a glass turned over and by the time I was done I had about a baseball worth of dough I couldn't use. Also I like square sammiches better |

Rolled out the dough a little too thin and I didn't have a cookie cutter big enough. But they turned out nice for my first try. Had the skillet up a little high for the first batch. Might try letting them rise a little bit next time after they're cut. http://media.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=20697 http://media.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=20698 Similar to how my first batch turned out. Letting them rise after you cut them might just do the trick for the next batch, you'll have to let us know how that works out. Thanks for the pics sir. |

Round two tonight. Rolled the dough out a little thicker, probably about 3/4". Cut into larger pieces. Let rise for 20-30 minutes after cutting. They look good now. Pics as soon as they come out of the oven. Nicely done sir. Can't wait to see how they turn out.
