So I posted a while ago to see some island pics and pretty much got nothing. So I am just going to build my own  This is the area I will be working with. As you can see I have already taken up the sod and am starting to map stuff out.  This cutout area will be where I make the pad to place the island on.  I came up w/ an "L" type setup and ordered my framing kit online. Here are the boxes   I am going w/ am 8' module w/ split bar and a 5' module as well to create an "L". Here is the 5' module under construction.  I am hoping to have this all done by the end of next month for a welcome home party for the son as he is coming back from Iraq. I'll post more soon. |

Plus the design aspect is covered. Kits are all about minimizing mistakes, and there's nothing wrong with that. If he takes more pics and dimensions we can all do the same grill for cheap.

Garage would have been ideal but I knew this would take me some time and I didn't want my car sitting outside. It will fit through the double doors there just fine. I'll be taking it out back shortly to sit w/ the other section while I get the pad done. Then I can join them together. |

Did a little more the past couple of weeks. Here I added the crushed rock base.  I added the sand and started to lay out the pavers.  At this point I have finished the original amount of pavers but since they were not truly 12" I will need to add another row.  Here I am test fitting the modules and it may be hard to see but the left side is off the pavers. That is where I need to add the extra row.  The extra row has been added.  |
I added the Trex composite decking around the outline of the unit to raise it above ground. This will keep the frame away from any sitting water if there happens to be some. I am also test fitting the sink and have made the cut in the lower frame for the fridge  |

All the top tiles complete Bar counter side tiles installed and test fitting appliances once again.  All side tiles complete and backer boards installed  I guess I was just to busy to take a pic of the base coat so here is the front and right side stucco applied  Under the bar I didn't finish that up so here is the base coat  Getting things in place  This is where it was last night for the party. Not completed 100% but the grill was hooked up and was a big hit  |
