Remington 1100 Ducks Unlimited Edition from 1974, the year I was born. It was given to me by my father on my 35th birthday this year. He had gotten it from a collector ten years ago and laid it down to give me on my 35th birthday. I had absolutely no idea he owned the gun. It has never been fired... nor will it ever be.

No pictures, but I've got 4. Remington Model 700, RH, .243, leather sling, Weaver scope and the gun itself are decades older than I am; Remington Model 700, LH, .270, Realtree neoprene sling (that bastard is a shoulder-saver during long hikes), Harris bipod, and a Nikon 3x9 Buckmaster scope; and two NEF single-shot break-open shotguns, one in .410 with a cut-down stock (was my first gun) and one in 20-gauge. Actually, thinking about it, I don't own a single tacticool firearm. My pistol doesn't have a light or a laser on it, I don't own a single semi-automatic rifle, and aside from my .40 FNP, all my guns are in "FUDD" calibers (but they damned well get the job done). |

It's not a Fudd gun unless it comes with a matching collectible plate, numbered for authenticity.
My dad has a friend whose living room contains two glass display cabinets. One is Fudd guns, the other is nothing but Elvis plates. Then he'll tell you how he paid more for the plates than the guns.  Good guy, though.

When I was a boy I had it on good authority that a box of 30-30 should last at least 5 years. A few rounds to sight in the gun (only once) and 2 rounds a year...one for each deer (back when the limit in Ga was 2). But, growing up in the country around people who subsistence hunted during the depression does expose one to a point of view not found on arfcom. |
