Was doing a shakedown on my top bar hive to move my bees into a larger hive. During the process, the spider that was living under one of the edges to the top of the hive caught themselves a snack!  |

My dad and sister keep bees, I love going out there and working with them. For some odd reason, I've never been stung. I mainly got the hive to help with pollination of my fruit trees and garden and for a little honey. I enjoy working the bees. Only been stung 4 times in the past year - only 2 of those were while working the hive. eta: "bear" hands, you say!  |

Whoops. I've got the mother of all colds and the cold meds are making me no brain so good. I'm hairy, but not that hairy. 
I'll bet you trees and garden have never looked so good. I always run into blank stares when I try explaining to people the benefits of bees. Then I tell them, "Imagine the food supply slashed by 70%." That usually gets their attention. |
