Advisor: Which way would you like to hunt hippies today Mr. President?  M16 or a Crossbow?

President: Lets go for the bag limit today, M16.

Something about a lowly peasant being able to shoot a member of the aristocracy off his horse with impunity?

Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.

I do not understand your question as to our "take" on the photograph.
It is a historical photo and it is well documented as to what is happening.
I believe it is the Secretary of the Army is presenting President Kennedy with the rifle and President Kennedy was presenting him with the crossbow.

My only take is that while I was not and am not of fan or President Kennedy, he was much more Conservative than any major Republicans left in the race right now.  He was much more Conservative than anyone we have had in the White House in the last 20 years.
He was for lower taxes.

President Kennedy was not really a very good President, he did not do much while in Office but I would take him right about now.

"Take" was a wide open question. Could be read or perceived in a multitude of ways. More or less interested
in how it would be accepted today. I myself have zero problems or qualms... In fact, I think it kinda kicks Arse.

I don't see an M-16 in that picture.
Remember, at the time this photo was taken, that rifle still said AR-15 on the magwell.

Probably somthing you won't see again in the White House. The President with a M-16/AR-15. It would be crazy as fuck to have a modern sitting president show up at Camp Perry and step up to the line for some target work. The anti's would go nuts.

My take?

JFK was a better democrat than ANY to follow in the past 40+ years, the fact that past assholes like Clinton and others are compared to him makes me very ill.

I could atleast respect JFK as a man and for his service record.   Seemed like somebody who maybe knew the price of freedom and the value of arms in the hands of citizens.
