Stationed back here again, 5 year orders. Yay me... 
Anyways, I see a lot of threads about shitty situations involving people open carrying firearms, so I wanted to start a thread about open carrying Arizona-style. What is Arizona-style, you may ask? Well, it's when someone goes about their day, doing their normal stuff, and just so happens to be openly armed... and nothing happens. Almost nothing, I should say... I mean... errands were completed, work was done, etc. Be forewarned though, this thread will be severely lacking in videos of joinder, lacking in confrontation... in short: really REALLY boring. No joke, you shouldn't even continue reading. So I needed passport photos, for a passport application an' all, requirements of the job ya know. I go down to the local drugstore, because that's where these 2"x2" little photos happen. I'm carrying my 1911, against black pants and a very light gray shirt, in this holster: 
Yeah, yeah, it's got an evil Glock in it in that photo. Deal with it. Arrived at drugstore at 1712. I walked past several people outside and several people inside, including at least 2 drugstore employees. At the photo department counter I had a rather pleasant conversation with the rather large photo lady. If you're into the large... go here. She informed me that the photos would take around 20-25 minutes to process. I sat in the chair, imagined how I'd probably feel going through customs, and BAM, photo. Sure enough, a rather disturbingly apathetic face stared back at me as I indicated that that photo would do just fine. Here's the kicker... what to do for about half an hour? ... ... ... ... I wandered around the drugstore. Yep, probably about a dozen to a dozen and a half customers and about 4-5 employees that I saw. I picked up some manila file folders and Tums, a box cutter, er, aircraft-takedown-tool. I perused the 87% off Valentine's day merchandise... but found nothing appetizing. Not even some basic chocolates of some kind. The Easter stuff had taken over. I went to the front of the store to grab an ad: hey, maybe there were some coupons I could use. Nope, nothing. Then the rather rotund Randi found me to hand me the finished photos. And a coupon! $2.00 off photo printing. I thanked her... and meandered over to the register. While the only man in front of me was digging through his wallet, I could see his two boys, about 6-8yo, get a couple weird looks on their faces. It looked like the 'Why does that man have a gun?' or the 'Why do you have a gun?' questions, but they didn't say anything. I paid for my purchases and left... at about 1741. There you have it. Nothing happened. No confrontations. Only a few people noticed, and it seemed like a passing curiosity to them. Goals achieved: Acquired passport photos. Got populace a little more used to an armed citizen.

I really don't know why GD can be such Fudds about Open Carry sometimes. The only time I really make a concerted effort to keep my gun concealed is at work. No rule against it, but no rule stating it's OK either.
Summertime especially I prefer Open Carry, since it allows me to dress better for the weather, and not dress around my gun. |

Can't believe I made it in before all the morons starting wailing and gnashing their teeth about OC, especially that one cop who would ban OC but is unusual in the he is a "cop who believes in 2A".
He got to bash OC and cops in one post, even though he claims to be one. |

The difference is the handgun is designed for a different purpose... to shoot a person in self defense. I'm all for it. Carry your Glock as often and as open as you wish. The question of why they were designed or for what purpose people use them for are two very distinct aspects, very distinct human aspects, applied to the inanimate object. But then I suppose you'll go on being butthurt, because, well, butthurt is as butthurt does, I guess. I'd say give it a rest, but positive open-carry threads must be derailed, right? And thanks for that Nolo. The PM might be days or weeks after the fact, but I'll definitely let you know what's going on if something happens. NCIS, OJAG, RLSO, etc all would get a piece of me after the civilian agencies raked me over the coals.

The BC/ATT comment seals the deal there. - OP is going to get shot first - OP is obviously scaring the sheeple, notwithstanding his obvious lying about no one noticing. They were just too scared to scream like a little girl and run out of the place. This of course, will lead to wholesale banning of CCW, guns and door-to-door confiscations. OC Fudds tell me this all the time on other gun/chainsaw/wood heating forums - OP is an Attention Whore Did I miss anything? Oh, that's right! Not even some basic chocolates of some kind. The Easter stuff had taken over. I went to the front of the store to grab an ad: hey, maybe there were some coupons I could use. Nope, nothing. Then the rather rotund Randi found me to hand me the finished photos. And a coupon! $2.00 off photo printing. I thanked her... and meandered over to the register. While the only man in front of me was digging through his wallet, I could see his two boys, about 6-8yo, get a couple weird looks on their faces. It looked like the 'Why does that man have a gun?' or the 'Why do you have a gun?' questions, but they didn't say anything. I paid for my purchases and left... at about 1741. Seriously?... Is that funny to you?
