Ive had the bug to camo a gun for a long time and thanks to all the how to's and pics you guys have posted i finally went for it.
I used Aervoe paint and the sponge technique, i started with a base coat of Urban Tan and sponged on Earth Brown, Olive Drab and Black. I degreased with CRC Brakleen non-chlorinated. I used green Scotch Bright to scuff everything down and sprayed with Klean Stip PREP-ALL, used Dupli Color adhesion promotor on the plastic. I used my home built 14.5'' pinned beater truck gun. I wanted to make some changes to the gun so i drilled out the pin to remove the FH to replace the DD Omaga X 12'' handguard with a LaRue 7'' handguard I also swapped out the Ergo grip with a Tango Down grip and added a Noveske QD end plate and Magpul trigger guard. At first i wasnt real happy with the camo job and keep adding more brown, o.d and black and once i got it outside it started growing on me. Rifle before pic.

A few months ago i built a rifle using a DD 16'' LW carbine barrel with FSB and i had that Lareu rail laying around so i used it and with that long skinny barrel with that short 7'' rail I thought it looked a little weird and the Omega X rail was covering the M4 barrel's 203 mounting area so i swapped them. 
After switching handguards the 16'' LW looks a lot better i think, I need to get a rear sight on it tho, Its around four months old and has never been shot  The sight in the above pic is a Troy Micro and doesnt line up with the FSP

http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/001691.JPG It does blend in pretty good lol When i decided to paint it i was going for an urban style camo that would blend in with different environments since. It spends alot of time broke down inside a Tactical Taylor bag under the back set of my truck, kind of a SHTF get home gun if you will.

I found out that if u put on very light coats with about 5 or 10 minutes dry time between coats keeping the paint job thin it drys and hardins faster. I also used a heat gun to warm up the gun parts before spraying them. |
