My 106FR, this is my favorite rifle. I've had many AKs over the years but there's something about this one that I really like. I'm thinking about getting an ultimak and mounting a T1.     As it originally came before changing furniture.  106UR, I need to get off my lazy ass and do the SBR paperwork.    |

Awesome pics. I wonder why Arsenal doesn't make AK-101 clones out of .223 Saigas... Yeah the SLR-106 is great, but I want a real deal as close as I can get AK-101 clone, like Arsenal did with the SGL 31-94 and SGL 21-94 (AK-74M & AK-103, respectively). I guess I'm the only one who feels that way - I'm not bashing the Bulgarian AKs at all, but to a collector, country of origin is important and I like my Kalashnikovs Russian. |

It is because the barrel does not have an ak74 profile like the 5.45 and most 7.62 saiga rifles do. It has a larger OD. I pulled mine and had a local shop turned it down to an ak74 profile. In the process I went ahead and installed an all original front end. Next on the list is converting with an ak100 folder setup. But I have to wait for my order from overseas to arrive with all of the folding stock sets I ordered. Should be on my door step in another month hopefully.

| I really regret buying my AK74 in 5.45 instead of getting a SLR-106 when they were cheap. Especially now that there are some good way to mount a red dot on an AK rifle. |

Disregard the FN49.
Took this picture earlier for something else. The top rifle is my newest. Refinished in a gray park, unlike the one on the bottom which is black. Hard to tell in the photo (cell phone picture) But in person there is a night and day difference between the gray and black rifle.
