I got two in today. Here is some pic. When compare to a surplus Yugo mag it seem to me that the steel is thinner. Croatian on left, Yugo on right.

ak mag by gundamzaku999, on Flickr I tried inserting the mag in the following rifle so far. WASR10 - it won’t fit, the lug won’t lock in. AMD65 - it won’t fit, lug won’t lock in. NPAP - it fit SLR107 - it barely fit. SGL21 - it fit, but it’s tight. AES10 - won’t insert M70 - it insert with some force. Will do a range report soon. |
| interesting.. glad someone took the time for comparisons w other steel mags. Most guys are reporting positive feed back upon receiving these new ''Croats''. But, there's always pros and cons to anything. I'll probably still pick up a few. Noticed Classic has them too along with Centerfire.... but Centerfire is way higher on their pricing than the $11 that everyone else is charging. Nice pics bud. |

Took mine to the range today, and they performed flawlessly in my Npap. They are thinner than Yugos, but they function fine. I shot 600rds down range with no issues. They are great looking mags, almost too nice to use

Yeah, I got one. Metal looks and feels the same thickness but the stamping is more crude and there are about 1/2 the spot welds holding it together. Blueing is nice though.
EDIT: weighed one of each on my digital fish scale, as stated above they both have identical weight - 13 oz. |

Uninspiring...especially the lockup issues. Even if the overall weight is similar, that doesn't account for where the weight/material is distributed, and whether or not those are critical areas. These nuances can make a big difference. I'm glad I held back on these and bought more if of the proven Combloc mags instead.

Just cause it's raining and I'm bored, I measured the thickness of a Yugo mag and a new Serbian with a micrometer.
Results are: Yugo - 0.030" Serbian - 0.034" Serbian is actually a little thicker, but close enough to be called the same. The spring length is equal. Follower looks the same but has a hole stamped in the side. My one mag I have fits fine in the rifles I've tried it in. |

Were these tight empty, or full (or the same either way)? If tight when empty, these may be no-go for many AK's. |

| I did check the rivet position and it was ok. I thought about taking a file to one but sent them back instead. They seemed like decent mags. Tapco mags all fit fine in this rifle but almost all the surplus don't. Guess I will need to get my file out if I want to use metal mags. |

I have had to file a lot of surplus steel mags, Chinese, Romanian and probably a few others. Sometimes its the tabs or sides of the mags. if they work in the end i don't worry about it. |

I received mine today. "No go" for M+M M10-762. I thought I'd have good luck with the, since their reputation is for fitting tight and my M10 is a little on the sloppy side (my Bulgarian steel mags, my favorites, have a bit of up/down and side to side play in that rifle). They DO snap in, but you have to slap the holy hell of them to get them to click in. The problem isn't just the mag catch (which on MY M10, has already been shaved down a tad to fit combloc mags), it's also the shape of the mag. The Croatian mags are more square in front than combloc mags. It actually fits too tight front/back as well. Once it's in, it is rock solid, but it's of no use if it doesn't chance out easily (one reason I prefer a bit of a sloppy fit over TIGHT mags).
I do hear they work great in milled versions, such as the C39, so I'll keep them as that's next on my list. |

I have had the same problem with Yugo mags in AK's like Arsenal rifles that had the mag wells opened up after they were imported into the US. Some mags were so tight i had to use a rubber mallet to hit the mag release to get the mag out.The Yugo's are thicker steel is why i think they are tighter in some rifles. I got rid of all my Yugo mags for this reason.My mags need to fit ALL of my rifles without being too tight,if they dont insert or release quickly they are sold. |
