Alright people, I know you got them, we wanna see them!! Post pics of your complete or work in progress retro "commando"! Barrel length can be anywhere from 10" to 14.5". 16" clones are welcome too. Let's see 'em!

Here's my XM177E2 project:

And all the parts I have for it :

Specs so far:
BRAND NEW (no hits from brass rear of the ejection port!) looking Colt M16A1 upper
Colt Model 733 barrel
Unknown MFG 2 position aluminum buttstock (may be Bushy)
Mottled A1 pistol grip
DPMS bolt carrier group (not shown)
TSI XM177E2 grenade ring (not shown)
Colt 20 round magazine

P.S. I dont own a lower yet and the barrel is not attatched and I have no way of attatching it so yeah.

Post pics, guys!!

Here are the "before" pics of the XM-177 project.........

More to come........I'm debating whether this will get a fresh Colt-grey molyresin job, or a "weathered/distressed" finish.

Here is my 607-ish clone......I keep the RDIAS in this one....TSI did the top end and stock for me......Palmetto lower, AAC cyclic rate reducer.....and the remainder early Colt.
After looking at UXB's stuff, I'm thinking about taking another 1.5 off the bbl. and putting a "duckbill" 3-prong on it.

Villa,
Gotta agree with Blanco_Pup on this one, the negative 1.5" & duckbill would be classic.

My XM177E2 clone. A Stag lower, EA 2 pos stock, 16" Bushy barrel, with not-so-retro Specter CAR sling.

edited to add: someday, I'll form an LLC and make an SBR out of it.

Here are the precious few that I have...

From top to bottom:

Colt AR15A3 Tactical Carbine, I retrofied it to make it lighter. It has slickside upper with a 1/7 twist lightweight barrel, the lug has been shaved, it has an M33 lower handguard to which I can attach my M3 light when it isn't on my Glock. The lower is stock except for the A1 grip, the sling is standard A1 and attached at the front with an early A1 M203 side sling adapter.

Colt AR15 A2 Gov't Carbine, I built this on a Gov't Carbine receiver that I picked up a while back, color matching A1 large hole upper, teardrop FA, Colt 16 inch 1/12 twist barrel, Colt M4 4 position (1st Gen) stock. Looks great!

Colt SP1 Carbine, factory! SN 126XXX

Colt SP1 Carbine, factory! SN 193XXX

Essential Arms (SWD) XM177E2, has the fun switch as converted by SWD and that's about all one can say. Except for the lower, it is built entirely of Colt parts. The stock tube is an early M4 4 position with an Essential Arms stock. I use the H buffer to slow the rate of fire a bit.

Below is my XM607 upper that shoots .22 LR! It's a blast to rock and roll with. Sounds sort of like my gas powered weed trimmer.

here are a few pics. of my 653/GAU-5/P that i have been working on. the color of the upper and lower are much darker than it appears in my pics. my camera and my skills are both lacking when it comes to taking good pics. but here they are to the best of my ability:

Since I'm being called out...

These are all being re-done.  The A2 lowers have been modified to XM16 receivers and are getting re-anodized by Victor:

Those are some awesome little carbines How did the "conversions" go? Are they for the 607s?

Hey uxb, are those 607 stocks from Total Silence?

BD,

Conversions are for the XM607s and I will probably do one more in the XM style for my XM177E1 in the style of this pic:

mentalstampede,

Those are the Total Silence, Inc. XM607 buttstocks.

I was fortunate enough to get two while they were in production.  I am hoping that production will resume.  Even at a higher price, I would still probably buy one additional.

You, sir, have impeccable taste.

uxb is still my co-hero though.  You get the points for making a .22LR XM607, uxb still gets the overall shorty points, and the OEG points.

I finally got a slabside 20" AR upper (SP1) from the Capt, now have to go buy an OEG for it.  OpticZone has new ones for $140, might have to check them out.

I'd suggest getting a regular 3 or 4x carry handle scope for a 20" rifle. The OEG's are usually on carbines. But whatever floats your boat.

Here's the 4x scope I'm talking about. You can find them for around $20-40.

The photo that Jeremy2171 poster of his old butt stock shows that this stock has seen better days. Has anybody tried to see if having an old, beat up stock in this condition could be refurbished by having it powder coated? With the choice of powder coat finishes available I would think there should be a finish that comes pretty close to the original. How thick is the original coating on these old Colt stocks?

True dat, but that particular 11.5" upper is part of my "RestoCarbine" project... it has to do double duty for this:

I should get extra points for the A1 removeable carry handle & the tear-drop FA!!!

Is there a hosting service from ARF? I am admittedly techno challenged with computers. I have a few I could share but don't know how or where to host them! That is indeed sad considering I have a website of my own...... In my defense I don't administer it, I leave that to someone else.

Here's my GUU-5P project. Semi retro, anyway.
My theory on this is an early USAF lower with an ex Army 653 upper from the post Vietnam era. This justifies the forward assist and lack of a brass deflector. (in my mind anyway)

-RRA lower receiver
-RRA bolt, carrier, and charging handle
-RRA lower parts kit
-RRA CAR handguards
-RRA buffer and spring
-2 pos CAR stock from the EE
-A1 grip from the EE
-Colt C/H A1 upper from CDNN
-YES, I NEED AN M4 BARREL
