What can anyone tell me about 10.5 MAS Defense barrels in 5.56, any good?

Interested as well...

From what I've seen here people lay they are decent barrels, but I have no experience personally. My buddy just got his this week, 7.5 Melonite, and he will put it together this week to see how it shoots hopefully. The one thing that he noticed is the barrel measures 7" to the start of the threads, so his 10" rail to cover his kx3 isn't gonna work, it will completely cover it instead of sticking out slightly, which sucks for him but good for me since we're probably gonna trade rails, my 9" BAR for his 10" evolution .

Used one on my wife's pistol build and have had no issues with it.  Obligatory pic...

My 7.5 mas defense. Those four shots on the plate were shot from 200 yards. Fifth shot was just off the paper.

I have a 8" 300BLK Melonite Mas barrel. It looks nice fit well and the bullets came out of the correct end when fired. Im pleased so far. I need more 300BLK to see how it really is. If you are looking for a budget priced barrel you would likely be happy as well.

I bought the HBAR version of the 10.5" from them. I have had no issues.

I have one of their 7.5" 1:7 .223 Wylde Barrels and it's pretty awesome. Very accurate and the finish is great for what they ask for their barrels. Also had it to my door in two days

I was thinking 10.5 for accuracy but if a 7.5 gets groups like that at 200yds. I just might go with that for my first pistol build.

Just bought a standard 10.5" barrel from them for a new build, because it was on sale. Govt profile, 1x7 twist.

Worked and functioned fine when I test-fired it the other day.  I've heard that they have larger gas ports than usual, and it did seem to be overgassed a bit for my H2 buffer.  I'm going to pick up an H3 and see if it slows down some more.

I have their 10.5" Barrel as well, and it is definitely gassed high. It will shoot Brass fine, and at least one Steel Case (Wolf Polyformance) without issue, however, I had some problems with the other Steel Case brands. I switched to an H2 Buffer (4.5oz) which allowed my Pistol to shoot anything I put into it. However, despite the H2 buffer and a full-auto carrier as well, it was still overgassed, ejecting cases forward at around the 14:00 mark and slamming the bolt back pretty hard.

I cured it completely with an Adjustable Gas Block, and my Pistol shoots smooth and has shot everything I've put through it.

I just finished building 4 AR Pistols with my boys, and ended up using MAS Defense barrels on all 4.

We started out with 4 PSA stripped lowers, and then added Phase 5 pistol tubes and CMMG LPK's.

After reading so many positive reviews and since they are based here in the Carolinas - I decided to go with them for the uppers - VERY HAPPY I DID!

Here are a few pics of the progress:

The 4 lowers waiting for us to add all the parts!
The CMMG LPK's came with pistol grips, so we put them on, but were then swapped out with the Magpul grips in the pics.

Maybe you could just fab up the parts with that 10" rail and the kx3', I wouldn't mind seeing how that looks.

I have two MAS barrels. 10.5" 5.56 chrome moly

and a 18" .223 Wylde chrome straight fluted barrel.

The 10.5" barrel markings are printed on. The chrome is etched. Both are really nice looking and MAS shipped fast and they are very affordable.

I've taken my basic 10.5" to the range a couple of times now, and it has proved reliable and accurate.  No complaints and I think i'd order from them again in a heartbeat.

Speaking of barrel markings though, mine came completely unmarked.  No caliber, no twist, no nothing.  Just a couple of proof marks.  Since I completely covered it with a rail and because it was just one of their basic M4 profile 1x7 barrels I didn't much care, but I did think it was a bit odd - I just have to take their word for it that they sent me the right barrel, I guess.  Had I ordered a more specialty barrel and it came unmarked I think I would have been unhappy.

It seems everyone is happy with the 10.5 inch MAS barrels but how about their 7.5 inch barrels? I'm considering one of their 7.5 inch complete upper assemblies and just wonder if they have them sorted out. From what I've read, the 7.5 inch pistols used to be kind of a pain to get functioning 100% but apparently most everyone has them sorted out now. Are the 7.5 inch MAS barrels/upper assemblies good to go?

I bought one of their complete 10.5" uppers with a Melonite barrel and BCG and had no problems with it when I shot last weekend. I used brass and steel cased ammo, all functioned perfectly. It was also very accurate as well.

One word of warning about their reviews.  If you want to submit one with less than 5 stars, you have to email them for approval first.  With that said, I have two of their barrels and have no complaints thus far...

Mine as well, ordered Friday last week, had it in hand yesterday.  Finish is fine, but mine is completely barren of any barrel specs.

Got my 10.5 .223 Wylde MAS barreled upper out yesterday and it gobbled up some xm193 like a champ. Didn't really get to take it out too far, but accuracy at 75 yards or so seems quite acceptable.

Curious about your comment, I contacted them today.  I spoke with Mario, he sent me a copy of the email they send out confirming the purchase order.  He explained that they strive for 5 star level service and they want to know and fix any problems, issues or concerns.  He seemed to be a straight shooter, gonna give them a try....  Here is the text from the email below.....

That is actually how most online reviewing software works. I've installed enough of it to know ;-) All reviews go through an approval / review process prior to going live. Some choose to let all go through, while others choose to review each and every one.
