I see what they are trying to do. Its a good idea.
But the leveraging force on that handle must be enormous. I'm not sure how the rear of the upper is going to hold up to that. Its not the straight back force, its the force applied that will torque the handle laterally as it moves back that concerns me. Might be fun to try. But I'm skeptical. |

Why?
If you want to turn your AR into a side-charger, buy a side-charging upper and bolt. If you can't afford it, don't bother with this thing either. All this does is take all the disadvantages of the rear-charging AR, and put it in an inconvenient faux side-charger. |

It's got to have huge force twisting the handle where the part you hold is on the side. Idk about everyone else, but my standard charging handle doesn't look sturdy enough for this shit and idk how you could build one stronger. |

It seems they attempted to blend 2 methods together in a rather inefficient manner. Like others have mentioned before, the amount of force applied to the charging handle in this configuration must be quite large. |

yes, precisely, and they try to make a big deal about being able to charge while holding it high/close to firing?
I'm trying to understand the tactical advantage of charging in that position anyway. I suppose it would come in handy in the case of a tactical reload. I know we are beating up on these guys, but....well, whatever. |

I don't recall ever having to charge my weapon with my face still on the butt stock. All my M16s and M4s lock the bolt to the rear when the mags empty and I charged my weapon before the start of the mission, not during.
This guy spent too much time behind a Ma Duece .50cal. Charging handle looks similar. |

Lots of hatas in this thread.
Y'all said the same thing about the Magpul BAD when it came out. I love this device. The more that can be done to make the AR handle like a FAL the better. I had a similar idea years ago, drew out a mockup in Illustrator and tried to get a machine shop buddy to make a proto. I'm glad someone else out there is actually thinking, instead of sticking to the way our grandpas did it back in 'Nam. This device almost (almost) makes me interested in the AR as a platform again and if I ever decide to buy another (it'll be in .30 whisper if I do), I'll most definitely get one of these charging handles. |

The AR's charging handle was is and always will be an awful idea and should have been replaced decades ago with a left-hand side charging option. If this thing had a Magpul or LaRue stamp on the side, you guys would all have jism on your keyboards and would be instantly Paypalling pre-orders. The only time any of you embrace progress is when it has a fashionable brand name attached. Noveske could release an upper utilizing the Krag Jorgenson action and you guys would buy it up in a heartbeat, just because it has a logo on the side. But this guy who has no name does something innovative and you shit on it. But whatever, hatas gon' hate. The rest of us move on and laugh at you. |

You're very out of touch. It doesn't take a big name to release something. It takes solid engineering and progressive thinking. It also has to have a Purpose. This has neither. Its poorly designed, and if you really want to fix a non-existant problem, there are side charging uppers available. This is very poorly executed solution to a problem that doesn't exist...and if you insist that it does, there are FAR better options available. The Charging handle still comes back over the stock, so I ask...what benefit does this give you? You get to pull back on a location a few inches farther forward...only to STILL have the charging handle come back where your face is? Not to mention there's the issue of torque.... There is a difference between a good idea and good execution. Even if you insist that this is a good idea, its HORRIBLE execution. |

I would like it if it really changed your AR to a side charger instead of only making it a rear charger with a side handle. |
