| What does it mean when the ROP idiots start they're little allah akbar chant? Was watching the video of the sniper trying to down our Medic and noticed them chanting allah akbar after taking the shot. Can only guess this must be some ROP request for virgins or something. |

Arabic for "God is the greatest." Akbar is the elative form of the adjective kabīr (great, big, important), meaning "greater, greatest, or very great." The elative combines the meanings of comparative (greater than) and superlative (most great). However, the elative is only explicitly a term of comparison when used with the preposition min, e.g. Allāhu akbar min mala'ikatihi, "Allah is greater than His angels", Allāhu Akbar min kulli shay "God is greater than all". Without a term of comparison, the elative conveys the superlative quality "greatest", "supreme." This phrase is recited by Muslims in numerous different situations. For example, when they are happy or wish to express approval, when an animal is slaughtered in a halāl fashion, when they want to praise a speaker, and during battles. The phrase is said during each stage of both obligatory prayers, which are supposed to be performed five times a day, and superogatory prayers, which are performed at will. The Muslim call to prayer, or adhan, and to commence the prayer, or iqama, also contains the phrase, which is heard in cities all over the Muslim world. The actual title of this phrase is takbīr (تَكْبِير), while the phrase itself is "Allahu Akbar". In the Islamic world, instead of applause, often someone will yell "takbīr" and the crowd will respond "Allahu Akbar" in chorus. The armies of Genghis Khan are said to have shouted "Allahu Akbar" while attacking Muslim armies. It means that Allah is Greater. As noted earlier, kabir is great. Greater than whom, it might be asked. Well, greater than all the other tribe's Gods. Understand that Allah was the name of the moon god that was the tribe mohommad belonged to. Naturally when choosing a god to be God, he chose his tribe's god. To gather others to his banner, he implored them that allah was greater. greater than their god. However, telling others that their god they grew up on is inferior didn't work as well as he thought. he therefore included other Gods. Once he had their allegance and superior numbers, he then renounced this. These are the "Satanic Verses" that salmon rushdee wrote of. Mohommad (or others, not clear on this) claimed that the verses were a trick of satan. Hence, satanic versus. That is why the moon is a common theme on arabic flags. Allah akbar doesn't mean God is Great. It means "allah is greater". Truth is power. |

"Allah u Akbar" is also used during the mind-numbing call to prayer five times a day broadcast over loudspeakers in every islamic nation on the planet, beginning 1/2 hour before daybreak and ending at sunset. A lot of the islamic countries break into their TV broadcasts to do a call to prayer simulcast. Five times a day. Every day. Encourages free thought? Hmm... I don't think that's what he was up to. He was making the valid point that, contrary to your statement, people who wish to justify wickedness can invoke any deity or principle. People have done some pretty horrific things, claiming to act in the name of Christ. The difference is that "Allah" actually expressly endorses genocide, murder, lying, slavery, dhimmitude, et c. et c. |
