I hope this isn't as bad as BRD
My first day with my new recurve bow. I've never shot anything without sights except a couple times when I was a kid. I figure this is a skill I should learn before the zombie apocalypse.

| For anybody who's interested in making some of their own bows for really cheap (and most of the designs work great), Nicholas Tomihama has a great book out called The Impossible Bow. I ran across some of his videos on YouTube, jumped over to Amazon and grabbed a copy. My wife and I have been tinkering with some of the designs and they're brilliant. You can easily put together anything between a 30# simple horsebow and a 70# recurve for the cost of a length of PVC pipe and a bowstring. |

Yes, archery is as bad, or worse than BRD! Been into archery since I was 14. Started with a Bear Grizzly recurve. Would love to find one of those again.
I use a LineXi cam bow for hunting now even though it is close to 20 years old. Just replace the string periodically and it's GTG. |

I have a 30 minute drive to the nearest place I can practice with my bow. So I bought a crossbow, because I want a deer dagnabbit.

My philosophy in life whenever I start a new hobby is to buy the cheapest items available so that 1) if I don't like it, the expense wasn't great, and 2) if I break it, the expense wasn't great. Hopefully this bow will last years and years so that even when all the high tech whiz-bang bows some day in the future, I'll be able to pull it out and appreciate my first bow.

Already have a 65 lbs Bear Super Kodiak, but have always regretted selling my 45 lbs Bear Super Kodiak to a friend. Was considering to buy a Black Widow, but instead bought another Bear Super Kodiak at 55lbs. Fits me like a glove.

To prevent lost arrows, give Judo point a try.
Judo point catches on the grass and flips the arrow up so you don't lose the arrow. I used them for tree stump shooting and they works really great. Just shoot once per target so you don't damage the arrows. Quoted:

At $5 an arrow, that's .025/shot so far! That's better than .22LR!
