The cuts are already happening. I was at my old unit on Camp Pendleton last week and their entire budget was gutted. The unit went from a $300k annual budget to >$25k budget in just 3 months. 
So glad that I retired, I lived through the Clinton years and would not want to go through that shit again. |

I had a "3" chief that was at either 1st or 3rd Tanks during the Carter admin. He said they went 6 months without leaving the ramp one year-and stayed like that until about '79 when dumbass saw the writing on the wall and added 5% to DoD funding. During the Klinton reign of terror, HQMC was asking for reservists to volunteer for AD while units that were chopped out to the MEUs deployed from the east coast. The MEUs went out, whether there was anyone left behind or not (there wasn't). Well, I guess the traffic situation in Jacksonville will get better as it becomes a near ghost town. |

Yeah, well the Wing may have gotten some new gear, but I can remember in the carter days when a pilot was lucky to get 2 flight hours a MONTH and mechs were scrounging for whatever supplies we could lay our hands on, and it will likely revert to that in the very near future. |

Money for aircraft is blue dollars, and fenced off from the rest of the Marine Corps green dollars.
That being said, it is more myth than anything that the Marine Corps has had hand-me down gear at least for the last 20 years. We tended to have newer and better individual gear than all of big army. |

If you're spending $1000 a year out of pocket for uniform inspections, the biggest budget in the world wouldn't solve the obvious stupidity going on at higher levels. A pair of ACU's costs about $140, and lasts 6 months, tops, if you hit the field a lot. with the new and improved 670-1 heading our way, I'm sure we too will get to enjoy wasted money due to uniform inspections that will make the command feel good. |

You forgot being forced to go to the Marine Corps ball and if you get your medals mounted its like 100 or more depending on your salt level. Our issued boots are 65 or 70. They suck ass. If you get a pair that's actually comfortable, you're easily looking at $130-150+ |
