If you need scope caps for your new Vortex Razor II, or any scope, then look at the new Vortex Defender scope caps. I have a set coming in tomorrow. They are about $20 and They are 100% made in Wisconsin, including hinge pin, spring, and even the packaging. Very durable and affordable. An excellent option for caps. They aren't live on the Vortex website yet, but you can order them through your dealers or call Vortex direct at 800-426-0048.
They carry the VIP warranty. Each will fit a huge range of sizes. In other words, each size has a very flexible fit range so it's really easy to fit them to your scope. The E-10 eyepiece flip cap fits just about every scope in the Vortex lineup and will fit many other brands also. the O-44 will fits most 42mm objectives and almost all 44s. The O-50 will fit most 50mm scopes on the market, and the O-56 will fit most 56mm scopes on the market (assuming they are NOT adjustable objective style scopes). There will be more sizes to come later next year too. Vortex will be releasing a fit chart for Vortex and other brands soon. The DOPE disk is another really cool feature. A DOPE chart in your eyepiece (roughly $9.99/each), totally tool-less to swap them in and out of the eyepiece, completely made out of plastic with a completely mechanical retention in the lid...no water dust, double-sided tape, etc. to worry about. Just swap them in-and-out of the eyepiece with your fingers. Make your ballistics chart on our LRBC app and then download it into a DOPE disk webpage for a custom disk order. The website, ordering, and DOPE disk ordering should be available by SHOT show.

These are Outside Diameter measurements of the scope, NOT the lens clear aperture size (i.e. a 50mm objective lens rifle scope will have a 50mm LENS clear aperture but a larger mechanical outside diameter on the tube) E-10: 40mm-46mm O-44: 48mm-53mm O-50: 55mm-59mm O-56: 62mm-66mm |

Here is the video I took of the caps. They went on very easily. The rubber is easy to slid over the scope and holds firmly. There are three positions for the eye cap and two for the objective. I really like that they lock in place and won;t flap around. They are also well made and seem much stronger than Butler Creeks and compared to the AAD Mount caps they seem just as sturdy for under half the price. For $40 a set they are a great buy.

Give Vortex a call on Monday but you should be able to use the E10 on both sides of that scope. The only real differences in the eye piece and objective caps is that you can put in the data card, which you don't need to do, and the eye piece locks straight as well as down when opened. Wouldn;t be a problem using the eye piece on the objective. |

Vortex had been rebranding the 270 degree flip back caps made by Quake Industries and sold under Quake's own label as Bushwaker 270.
I know some here did not like that the part that slipped over the scope was soft rubber, but I liked them more than Butler Creek. They have been more durable for me than the Butler Creek ones. Got lots of those, too. If it says anything about their quality, my Kahles scope came with the Bushwaker caps new in the scope box, but with Kahles name on them. I don't know who makes the new ones for Vortex. If the shell is still soft rubber, it may still be Quake. If they are even better, that's great. Quake industries is also the blackpowder brand name CVA and also several other popular outdoor sporting brands. |

You are correct that the outer shell is a softer rubber that is over molded onto a harder plastic insert. This allows the cap to fit a wide range of sizes, but have the rigidity for good clip function. Over molding also makes them very durable as well. |

How are you guys liking these?
I find that mine pop open a little easier than I prefer, especially the objective. I sent my first one back to vortex and my second does the same. Any bump will cause it to pop. I try to close the caps when I put the rifle in a bag, and many times find them open when I pull the rifle out. |

I have had my rifle out 10 times since putting on the objective cover(56mm).It still is quite secure and takes a fair bit of force to open ,but it just barely fit my scope maybe that has something to do with it. |
