I happen to be doing an FFL transfer and saw it hanging on the wall. Guess someone in the shop was going to buy it and changed their mind....they had JUST put it on the shelf this morning.
It's an "M24 Collector's Edition." From what I could tell, the original/issued parts are... (these are the used items with worn/old spray paint) -Stock -Ultra M3A scope with extension -Ultra rings -Some type of mount on the opposite side of the safety. -M24 labeled hinge plate, trigger guard, etc.. -Standard QR code on the bottom of the hinge plate Not 100% sure on the receiver. It says M24 and looks quite worn. Yes, it is a long action. 
The only part that looks new is the barrel/front sight. It has a standard Remington cardboard box, new leather sling, and a Pelican case containing an Otis/other misc stuff. I had no intention of buying one but I've passed up on rare stuff too many times and had to jump on it. I passed up a PSG1 for 6k about 15 years and kick myself for not doing it. Questions.... -Is this considered the "Rebuild"? http://www.remingtonmilitary.com/Firearms/Sniper%20Rifles/M24-Rebuild.aspx This one looked like it was take right out of an Army armory after a re-barrel. -Is the new barrel just a standard Remington or is it a Hart? I'm an idiot. I was googling "M24 Collector's" edition and could find little or no info. When I did find info, it was people selling the rifle only with no scope.
Then I saw it being mentioned as a M24R.....now I found tons of info and see they're more common than I thought. I had no idea they could come battle worn or just straight black. Mine has a RRXXXX serial number so that's half the battle knowing it's legit. What's everyone's favorite go-to ammo for one of these? I had a 700 Police in the late 90's and would shoot Fed Gold Match 168 (and 175 at longer ranges)...just curious if there was any companies making an exact replica of M118LR. I also have a MK12 and mostly shoot MK262.....so figured I would put similar mil ammo through this gun. I would like to find ammo that matches the M3A BDC. |

I love mine...I got one that didn't come with the scope so I ended up putting a NF 3.5-15X50 on it.
I fired a few rounds with boxed 175 SMK's to sight in the scope...now I am reloading 175 SMK's with RL15 at 43.0 grains...will be testing the 4064 on the 175 SMK's soon. |

There were some recent (late 2015 and 2016) shipments of rebuilt M24s built on the same actions/barrels/tooling in Remington Defense with stocks, rings, scopes that have been deployed. But they are new barreled receivers, the issued items were everything besides the barreled action.
ETA: awesome score on yours--I saw a few of them that were basic black, but only a few pics of some that came in camo'd like yours. Very nice! |
