This one is said to have a blueprinted action. And there is this from the Drake's link:

Initially we called
upon MDT technologies to design a special Drake variant of their proven
and popular LSS. We added many features and modifications that were
adopted from our experience in the US Military and Special Operations
community. The chassis system also incorporated a Left Hand / Right Hand
design. These chassis were exclusively built to Drake Specifications by
the MDT team. We called this new platform the Hunter Stalker LWSS and
it was designed "For Snipers by Snipers”. We then combined this new
Drake Hunter Stalker LWSS with off the shelf Savage Model 10BA and 110BA
barreled actions.

View Quote

We
initially sent these rifles out to the field with US Military Special
Operations teams that wanted something light weight, extremely accurate
and man portable. In Jan 2015 we received results from a team in
Afghanistan that repeatedly engaged targets out to 1350 Meters with a
20” barreled .308 Savage action in our Hunter Stalker Chassis
(note: The
Last long range military 308 caliber record was set by US Army James
Gilliland in Iraq 2005 at 1250m with a 26” Barreled M24)

The
next generation of that Hunter Stalker, which took the Drake/MDT Hunter
Stalker LWSS chassis design, and added a specific recipe for the SAVAGE
barreled action. Drake incorporated lessons from real world situations
and applied them to the new design. We utilized concepts learned from
the US SOCOM PSR Solicitation and added newly developed high ballistic
coefficient bullet data and applied this to a specific barreled action.
Again the results were outstanding.

This
brought Drake into a more direct relationship with Savage Arms who
incorporated these improvements into the Drake Mod for the Model 10BA
and 110BA. This Cooperation improved the performance significantly with
0.4 MOA and directly led to the outstanding performance of the US Army
NG WTC sniper team at the 2015 US Army International Sniper Competition
at Fort Benning, GA and the success of a premier Rhode Island SWAT Team
at the Connecticut State Police CT SWAT Challenge in their 2105
competition during the sniper events.

The
final iteration of the Stalker has been the development and upcoming
launch of the SAVAGE CONCEPT II – STALKER TACTICAL RIFLE SYSTEM.Relying
on Chris Drake of Drake Associates as the "subject matter expert” and
with the support of MDT and The MAKO group, Savage Arms refined the
Stalker Chassis original design, developed with internal proven
technology by MDT, with all the ergonomic and style features called for
by the user community.

2015 US Army International Sniper Competition – Fort Benning, GA

SPECIAL
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE US ARMY NATIONAL GUARD WARRIOR TRAINING CENTER
SNIPER TEAM AS THEY HELD THEIR OWN AGAINST THE SOF TEAMS with the SAVAGE
STALKER RIFLE SYSTEM

DRAKE ASSOCIATES and SAVAGE ARMS
had the opportunity to provide one of the participating teams at the US
Army International Sniper Competition with a new long range sniper
platform – the SAVAGE STALKER 308, Drake MK12 5.56 SASS and related
support equipment in cooperation with our industry partners MDT / Modular Driven Technologies, The MAKO Group/ Fab Defense.

During
the week of October 19-23, 2015, Sniper Teams from across the world
traveled to Fort Benning to compete in the Annual International Sniper
Competition. The goal of this competition was to identify the best
sniper team from a wide range of agencies and organizations that
included the U.S. Military, International Militaries, and Local, State
and Federal Law Enforcement.

Many teams were invited to compete in
a gauntlet of rigorous physical, mental and endurance events that test
the range of sniper skills that include, but are not limited to, long
range marksmanship, observation, reconnaissance and reporting abilities,
and abilities to move with stealth and concealment. After competing in
the events the best teams were selected.

DRAKE ASSOCIATES and SAVAGE ARMS were privileged to be able to supply the SAVAGE STALKER 308 long range tactical sniper system, Drake MK12 5.56 SASS to the US Army National Guard Warrior Training Center Sniper team.

Competitors:

      • SSG Cavalier (B Co)

      • SSG Jimenez (A Co)

At
the awards ceremony at the end of the competition is was announced that
the US Army NG WTC, using the Savage Stalker rifle system achieved the
following outstanding and significant results:

      • Top National Guard Team

      • 2nd Place for NON-Special Operations/SOF team- Conventional Units

      • 8th Place Overall Ranking for competition (The majority of the competition was from Special Operations Forces / SOF Units)

I will be looking at the 308 or 6.5CM, but have to see the barrel configurations first. Nice thing about Savage is the ease of swapping the barrel by yourself.

Hopefully. Currently still trying to find a 10FLCP-SR. This would save me a lot of money since I'd just swap the stock.

I had one in my hands this morning at Gander Mountain, it was very hard to not buy it. If I had a credit card with me I think I would have bought it. Beautiful rifle. The one I looked at was in 6.5 creedmor. Excellent fit and finish and an excellent trigger.

Picked one up yesterday in 6.5CM.  It might be a bit before I get the scope rings I want to be able to get it out to the range. When I do I'll report back.  So far I am pretty impressed with it.  The stock is a little cheap looking, but whatever they did mine is actually very tight on the buffer tube so that's nice (no rattle or sloppiness).  The mag (even a magpul one I bought) seem a little loose in the magwell, but this could be normal...I've never used AICS mags before.

I'm on board. I jut ordered on on Saturday at Gander Mountain. I now have to research on a scope, don't want to spend a ton on it. I'm looking at something that is capable of reaching out to 1 mile, not that i will shoot that far anytime soon. But I have found a range 50 min south of my home that has a mile range. Right now I will be focusing on range distance that is 200 yards or less to practice on my shooting skill first. Any recommendations?

I started the first thread on these rifles on this board when it was announced. I have a Facebook friend who had some peripheral involvement in designing it.

Time went by, comments were made and I think the thread has been archived.

Fast forward to yesterday and I find out that my local shops are swimming with these rifles.

I'm pretty impressed with what I am seeing. I think this might become my long planned, but never purchased, 308 rifle. The barrel is a smidgeon longer than I would like and I much prefer the folding mechanism on the Ruger Precision Rifle. But other than that this fulfills everything I currently want in a bolt gun. Looking forward to hearing some more reviews.

I picked one of these up in 6.5 Creedmoor last week, and have been getting the rest of the odds and ends in.  Swapped out the FAB POS stock with the LUTH-AR collapsible stock, swapped the the EGW 20MOA mount base, and have a Vortex PST 6-24x50 that just arrived and will be mounted up tonight.

No adapter, that's the MBA-3 stock that mounts to a standard carbine receiver extension, which already comes on the rifle with the FAB stock.

Gotcha. I didn't know if you used an online adapter because some guy on the hide put one on to take away that hard 90° right there at the grip and buffer tube.

Yea, I've seen that.  He used the MBA-1 which mimics a fixed A2 stock length and uses a rifle extension tube plus an adapter piece to account for the angle you mention.

IMO, using an A2 length stock or similar like that on these makes the length of pull too long.  If you look at where the stock tube mounts to the chassis and its distance from the trigger compared to an AR type rifle, there is more distance there.  Then also add that adapter piece as well for a rifle buffer tube, and it's way out there.  I was planning on getting a Magpul PRS at first, but when I looked at it and eye-balled the numbers, it just seemed way too long and would position the cheek riser way too far back to work.

I'm debating between the Luth-ar collapsible stock, or the XLR stock for my 10 Stealth. I agree, at first I wanted the PRS stock, but it would be way to long.

I think with the Luth, I'll run it all the way in, withe the butt slightly out. As I have it now, with the stock collapsed all the way it's too close, one hole out and it's too far.

The XLR looks sweet on these guns as well. But about $75 more.

Local lgs had one in Stock for a grand and tax. I have been wanting an rpr in 6.5 but the odds of finding one at a decent price are slim. I stuck the stealth on layaway yesterday till I could do my homework as it was the only one there.

Had a chance to go out and zero mine today.  I have to say I'm pretty happy so far.  After bore sighting, only took 4 shots to find my zero at 100yds.  After that I managed a barely sub MOA group off the shaky workbench.  Action cycled super smooth and the Magpul AICS pattern mags worked perfectly.  Planning to give it a good workout next week at a planned range day with some friends.

I had a chance to get one a couple weeks ago. Had to leave before I broke out the CC. Sure looks nice. There is a guy on savage forum who has the 6.5, 300wm, and now the 338. He said he like it alot but still braking it in. Recoil isn't stout due to the brake on it. If anyone does have one, please give us a range report.

Reporting back....after a couple range trips now and still less than 100rds total through mine it so far appears to be about a 3/4moa rifle with hornady 140gr eld-m ammo.  Just about the same ~.8moa with 143gr eld-x factory loads.   I'm really liking this rifle so far.

D Man what height rings did you use with your Viper PST?  You have a 20 moa base right?  I put low rings on mine with the same scope and I have plenty of room above the barrel but no 20 moa base.  With the low rings I can lower the cheek piece on the FAB stock nearly all the way down.

Looks good.

Mine now is setup with a Nightforce 20MOA base.  The original factory base was cantilevered and stuck out ahead of the receiver considerably (see top picture below).  The replacement 20MOA Nightforce base is not cantilevered (see bottom picture below).  Getting the scope far enough to the rear where it worked for me meant that the bell of the scope would interfere with the base before the bell of the scope would interfere with the barrel.  Just a heads up.

Also, be aware that the Nightforce base comes with screws that will not fit the Stealth's receiver (I think they were size 6-48 and my Stealth needed 8-40 screws).  I had to get replacement 1/4" 8-40 Oval Head Screws for the installation and had to drill out the screw openings a bit in the Nightforce base to be able to get the screws through it.  Works fine now.

Factory Base on Top (shown with a Nikon Scope and cheap ring set) // Nightforce Base on bottom (shown with Seekins 30mm 0.87" Rings and 4-16x 50mm Viper PST Scope)

They're the Vortex/Seekins Matched rings in medium height, I believe 0.97", and the EGW 20MOA HD base (I also had to drill out the holes for the bigger screws).  I was considering trying going to a lower ring since where it is now, the cheek riser is almost maxed out for me, however looking at where the bolt handle passes the eye-piece of the scope, I'm worried if dropping the scope down won't make things too tight there when trying to work the bolt quickly.  Where it is I'm fairly happy with it so I'm less inclined to go back and experiment with different rings.

I have not, as I am planning to start reloading my own 140gr ELD loads here as soon as I get some powder in for it.  I do think a local place has some of the old 120gr AMAX loads for sale, so I might give them a shot to see how it likes the lighter fares.
