Home Depot. Bunch of 2X4's and some wood screws and you are in business. Just make sure to make the legs long enough that they do not blow over in decent wind.

Years ago I picked up 3 of these from Letargets.com.
I always have them in the back of the truck along with some cinder blocks for weight on windy days. They are still going strong inspite of being shot up and dented. Not heavy duty enough for competition matches but great for practice.

Exactly, I made mine several years ago, they stay outside, rain or shine, and still work great.  Best $15 I ever spent.

They're just a short distance up the road from me, and very near a convenient shooting range.  I've got one of their square stand-alone metal stands, a 6-pair pack of the JT stands, and a half-used box of cardboard targets.  With that setup & some 5' furring strips, I can carry a good amount of target material in a Honda Civic Coupe.

I make wooden "H" target stands for about $2 each. Mine are wider than needed for IDPA because we use them at the range I help run also. Just measure how wide your targets are and add about a half inch leeway on each end, say its a 2 foot wide target, cut you 2x4's to 2 feet 1 inch. I will whip something up in MSpaint quick.

I build some steel target stands and sell them for $30. All welded tube steel and painted.

One of the clubs I shoot at uses PVC tubing.  5 straight pieces and 4 t's,  I don't have a picture of how they are put together but you can see them in this video.  They form an H and are taken apart for storage.  They are lighter and store easier than wood.

When y'all make your own target stands out of 2x4s, do you put something between the two pieces that hold the furring strips, to act as a spacer?  If so, what do you use?  Another piece of furring?  And one last question...  What do you use to hold the vertical furring strips in between the 2x4s?  Just a tension fit or...screws?  Thanks.

Combination of the plans listed in this thread and the first set of pics found in the link: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=9&f=4&t=228579&page=1

(My stands are the second set of pics, I think 2 stands cost me ~$20 in materials)
