Made a dueling tree out of 3x6" 1/4" AR500 "scratch and dent" plates.

Works great for .22lr, gonna test 9mm/45acp this weekend.

I used scrap angle iron, two layers cause it was thin stuff. 2" and 1"

Welded some 1" pipe cut to 3" long to the back of the angle iron.
Then welded some 3/8" x 6" long nails to the ar500 plate. That looked like flags on a flagpole.

Rustproof black paint, just painted plates white/yellow.

Looks nifty. Tagged for .45 update.

It took the 9mm and .45 acp!!! Stand and targets are still together.

Only problem is when shot with .45 more than one plate would flip over! I figured as much, the plates are only 1/4" 3x4" they are not heavy enough.

So I now have 5" circles 3/8" ar500 on the way for 9mm/45/38spl

Very nice. Looks like I may try this for the new shooting season.

What type of round were you shooting? (FMJ, lead, HP, JHP, frangible, etc.)

Could you tell where the rounds were being deflected to by the plate? Like down toward the tree's base, or behind or in front of it?

At what range were the shooters shooting from?

Were there any fragments, or rounds deflected back at the shooter(s)?

Nice and the original specs would make a great primary rimfire tree.

This is excellent.  I may have to trade some training for some welding from a buddy of mine...
