I am planning a Service Rifle build right now and have decided to run an M16A4 style set up with the removable carry handle. I plan on having Northern Competition install one of their sights (with pins) in a detachable carry handle.
My question is which carry handle to go with. I would like to get a carry handle that will lock up solidly on the upper but am not sure which legal option would be the best. I understand all parts are in short supply right now but I am in no rush as I am currently in Iraq and will not be able to use this for a while. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! |

The problem you are going to run into is that they will have to mill a hole in your upper receiver to make the threaded portion of the elevation drum sight base fit. There simply is not enough room in the removable handles to get a standard sight in there. That is unless they have built a special sight just for A4s.
If you compare the difference on a GI A4 to an A2 sight, the A2 will have adjustments to 800M where as the A4 sight will only go to 600. The reason is that there is not enough material in the handle to get the regular sight in. I can't imagine any one handle is any better than any of the others, but I think selection would have more to do with having the correct dimensions and geometry to fit the sight properly.
