Well, actually i know there are such leagues or competitions. So lemme rephrase:
what are some of the competition/sanctioned leagues for AR shooters? I was thinking about joining USPSA and I know USPSA has rifle and shotgun divisions, but here in Kansas City, rifle and shotgun competitions only occur once or twice a year here under USPSA––it's primarily pistol shooting matches here when it comes to USPSA.
So what's all out there for shooting rifles in a competitive sport?
NRA Highpower.
After having a nearly identical question a year ago I finally settled on CMP Highpower. There you have the opportunity to join the ranks of the Distinguished Rifleman. NRA Highpower is nearly identical in course of fire, and is typically fired the day before a CMP match, but they have no DR badge (well they have something similar now but that's another story).
They do have classifications (Expert, Master, High Master, etc.) that you can acheive (and fall out of, while DR is forever
)

The one purchase I recommend above all else is:
Mind Over Matter DVD set. It goes into equipment, position and thought process for a full course of fire.
