Was speaking to a local gun store owner about ordering an STI Edge.  The gun is often used with high capacity mags (which is my intended use for competition).  He, the gun store owned, believed that post-ban high-cap mags for a gun like this are OK in NYS (e.g. exempt from ban) because they are for use in competition.  I do not believe this is true, and I know that, unfortunately, many FFL's are misinformed.   Can anyone confirm or deny?

The pistol will be primarily used in Connecticut (but I reside in NY).  Assuming the post-ban high capacity mags are NOT legal, I would plan to just leave the mags at Connecticut location (e.g. where I shoot).
